If we got pick 9, if Macrae and Stringer are gone I would love us to pick up Membrey. I genuinely rate him highly and think he could play next year and win our goalkicking. Not that it's a hard feat, but I'd still love him in the side.
mate I'm totally with you. Membrey all the way

We are not without limits on places on our list. Time we concentrated on quality over quantity. We should be looking at every opportunity in trading
to be improving on our picks, IE trading for upgrades rather than any more fringe players.

Just on that point, taking minidraft players will buy you a year to find out which of your current kids can play footy.

Yes, you wont be playing them this year ... but they wont be taking up a list spot, either.

I'd also be strongly considering at least one of the American rookies, as they dont count against your list.

Oh, they don't take a spot? We were discussing that a few thousand posts ago. :p Thanks for that!

Yeah, there's been a bit of a discussion on here about that too; a lot of us love Eric Wallace but I think, at 25, he's not worth the 3-4 years development he'd need. Want us to take Benjamin Shearry though; similar key forward size/build and only 22.

Macrae is a genuine outside runner. Not a ball winner at all.

We need to come away with either stringer or hogan in my book.

I can actually see stringer playing full-forward a la pavlich. He'd compliment jones and Cordy nicely.
no, Macrae has an inside game. I've seen a fair bit of him through connections i've had with the Oakleigh Chargers and having been to a lot of their games this year.

I never said he was a key forward, but Stringer is not a third tall at all, he is a big midfielder that plays forward at times, more so since his injury. I'm tipping I have seen more of Stringer in the flesh than anyone on this board due to where he played his junior footy hence why I have pushed for him to be top of draft list since start of year even before every johnny come lately. The point I was making is that such is his talent he can have as much impact up forward as Hogan despite it not even being his best position.

Sorry, I thought you were.

I agree Stringer is more a midfielder and that had to play forward due to that injury this year. I just think your underrating Hogan.

Another article that implies we'll be trading picks 5 AND 6 for Martin. Surely we're not that stupid?

Relax little doggie - GWS might want 5 and 6 for Martin but they'd have to give quite a bit back. Wanting and getting are two different things, and GWS have to take what is offered, they can't keep the MD picks for themselves.

Hope you're right mate; just paranoid that we're not prepared to lose him.

If we give up 5+6 for Martin and a few steak knives I will be that angry.

I ****ing hate this greedy ****ing campaigner of a club called GWS, the sooner Leon Cameron takes over (or better yet they fold ) the better.

Read This:

The Western Bulldogs are favoured to snare the first selection in the mini-draft, which would almost certainly be used to recruit star WA midfielder Jack Martin.

List managers and recruiters expect the Bulldogs will hand GWS picks No.5 and No.6 in the draft in exchange for the first mini-draft selection and another draft pick or player.

There has been speculation talented midfielder Dom Tyson could leave GWS as part of that deal, but rival clubs expect the Giants would refuse to let the No.3 draft pick leave one year into his two-year contract.

The Bulldogs have been the strongest bidders throughout for the first mini-draft selection and they are unlikely to face competition, with Gold Coast distancing itself from the mini-draft.

That's crap. If we are "unlikely to face competition", why would we be offering overs? This is a no reserve auction.

My view is that it's a lot more likely the Dogs get MD1/Martin for #6 plus/minus steak knives, with MD2 going to someone else for around pick 11.

This is a draft/trade period that will define our next decade (and the more melodramatic among us suggest maybe the whole club's future). I am confident we can do very well. However ...

After all the crap we suffered in the second half of this year and the numerous dud first rounders we've had I will be ropable if we screw up this draft with a charity trade to GWS.

We need to get a great deal. If we can't we should just stay with what we've got.

I'm with the others as good as Martin might be if we give up picks 5 and 6 i think the recruiter should be sacked, GWS lose the picks if they don't use them, we would be completely stupid to give up both in a super draft, we are completely in the box seat here. give them pick 6 and nothing else, if we lose pick 5 as well i would want something absolutely exceptional thrown in with it to even consider it, i really hope we show some spine for once, sure Martin might be a gun, but i would not risk both picks which should land us 2 super players at the draft.

Agreed, 5+6 is massive overs.

If in return we get Jed Anderson, plus pick 9, I would be pretty happy.

If Tyson to Richmond isn't part of the deal though, it would need to be Jed Anderson, plus something else good - i.e. Taylor Adams (who was pick 13 last year), etc.
