They have to place in two separate positions to make up for missing out on ninth :D . In other news, I'm surprised to see Freo ranked so high (above Collingwood!) and North so low.

Huh! What are you talking about? Frawley, Trengove, Moloney, Jamar,Watts et alii are all still at the club!
And the "up and commers" McKenzie, Howe, Jurrah,Tapscott, Bail, Gysberts, et alii are comming along nicely and they are also still at the club.
Please do some research before you post!

1. Hawthorn (Amazing!)

2. Geelong (To carry on the good form with a really talented batch of youngsters)

3. Collingwood (No matter what you say, they've still got class)

4. Carlton (Years of tanking will allow them to have a shot at the title this year)

5. West Coast (Will prove that 2011 was no fluke, really exciting times for them)

6. Sydney ( Adam Goodes to have another year of good form, last ditch effort at finals)

7. Brisbane ( Believe we have very talented kids in our list, some of whom are yet to play 10 games, watch out for us)

8. North Melbourne ( 99% draw, 1% skill)

9. Melbourne ( Clark will help them immensely, but then again, it's the Dees)

10. Bulldogs ( No real talent on the list, can see them sliding even further)

11. St. Kilda ( New game plan can see them test some teams, but struggle against top 4)

12. Fremantle ( Clark's debacle will hurt them with injuries consuming Pavlich and Sandilands)

13. Adelaide ( The outs in the off-season might hurt, but good talent coming through)

14. Richmond ( Enough said, it's Richmond)

15. Essendon ( First year's luck with Hirdy got them through, tough second year)

16. Gold Coast ( A lot of raw talent, but still needs another season before the finals)

17. Port Adelaide ( No comment on a joke of a team)

18. GWS ( First year, doubt if they can get a win)

Still bitter over 2004... Anyway your placement of Port is likely 1 too low but at least i'm being realistic. You on the other hand stating Brisbane to finish 7th is laughable, try at least 7 spots lower.

Maybe I simply should have put "No comment on a joke of a post"...

For what it's worth

  • Top 4 is a shoe in and I can't see any differently
  • 5-8 is reasonable but Ess could jump in there
  • Can see Adelaide jumping into the 8 with their dream draw
  • 9-12 starting to get difficult with North or Rich possibly moving into that category
  • 13-18 bottom 6 has to be close IMO with all but GWS moving between 13 to 17

Who thought West Coast would make the top 4 this year? Usually one or two teams come out of no where and finish near the top. People who predict almost the same ladder as this year will be so wrong.

West Coat have alot better experianced players than Brisbane do

I've gone through the fixture, and used past results, 2011 form and trends to come up with the following ladder:

Interesting to note, the top 8 remains the same as 2011 with a few position changes.

The problem with predicting the way i have - is being ignorant to teams to improving - we can never predict what the year ahead has, which teams have a good run with injury, which teams don't etc, but i've tried to based on 2011, form & trends.

TEAM PTS
Collingwood 80
Hawthorn 72
Carlton 64
Geelong 60
Essendon 60
StKilda 60
West Coast 56
Sydney 52
------------------
North Melbourne 44
Adelaide 44
Fremantle 40
Richmond 32
Melbourne 36
Western Bulldogs 32
Brisbane 28
Gold Coast 16
Port Adelaide 12
GWS 4

Also the fact a team on 36 points seems to finish lower on the ladder with a team on 32 points.

If you used previous form, who do you have GWS beating?

Haha. Honestly where do you see the massive improvement by Melbourne. You guys are bottom 4 certainties, crap this year and lost your best player. Love the biased crsp on here its hilarious.

Scully our best player?

How did you figure that out? The fact he never finished top 5 in a best and fairest and only played 30 odd games didn't come into consideration obviously

I've seldom seen a softer draw than Adelaide have in 2012. A very good bet to make the 8.

Although "finished" is a harsh word, I tend to agree that their premiership run is over. Too many senior heads gone/going now.

Although I think they'l make the 8, they won't make the top 4.

My attempt:

Collingwood - Class above
Hawthorn - the only real premiership challengers to the pies I think
Fremantle - this year's West Coast
Carlton - prelim finals I think, but largely depends on injuries to the talls
West Coast - bit of a slide but good enough to win nearly all at Perth
Geelong - Good side, but will drop a few
Sydney - because they always make the 8, underated side
Richmond - lacking depth so we need a good injury run, not impossible

North Melbourne - could easily finish 6th-8th, but I think they'l fall short
Essendon - not convinced. Again could easily finish 7th-8th though
Melbourne - still a year or two away, losing Scully sets them back a little
St Kilda - star players but not enough else coming through
Brisbane - bit of an unknown, but need more time
Adelaide - no idea really, somewhere in the bottom 8
Western Bulldogs - time for a rebuild
Gold Coast - reckon they will suprise and show a lot of signs in 2012
Port Adelaide - just can't see them winning more than 6 games
GWS - will only win 1 or 2

This was hard, there are a group of about 8 sides who are midtable that could really finish in any order from 7th-14th.

Premiers: Collingwood to beat the Hawks
Brownlow: Pendlebury
Coleman: Franklin 86, Riewoldt 79, Cloke 72

We beat Geelong last season, does that make us better than Geelong?

North's forward line and backline lack quality and the midfield only has 2 proven players, the ruck department is very good.

We have 2 blokes in our forward line that are better than anyone on your list, petrie and boomer. Those 2 will be around for another 3 years. then we have adams and thomas as small forwards who are very dangerous along with harper then at chf we have pedersen who proved in his first year that he can play. Edwards had a very good year as our 3rd marking option and he is deadly accurate in front of goals.

the backline may lack perceived quality but it is very solid with grima and hansen holding up the key posts and firrito, mcmahon, thompson and macmillan taking the flanks and pockets. There's a good chance we will also use pick 18 in this draft to add more quality to the defence.

there aren't many holes in our list and with a relatively easy draw i expect us to make finals comfortably next year

That is not a compelling argument....they are all rubbish

grima had an injury plagued 2011 but in 2010 he was amazing and beat all his opponents, he is a quality kpd. Hansen is also a very good KPD but for most of his career has been forced to play forward but next year he should play every game at CHB.

Firrito had a very average 2011 so i'll agree with you there but if he can get back to his 2010 form then he will be very valuable.

The other 3 in defence mcmahon, thompson and macmillan all are very competent in defence and the 6 of them make a solid back 6.

Firrito could be replaced if we draft a hbf with pick 18 eg)ellis or mckenzie
