HALF TIME

Sandringham: 11.7.73
Bendigo: 5.8.38

Goals: Coleman 4, Cripps 2, Archer, Ledger, Newnes, Cook, Ross

Ray has 19 touches, Ross 14, Ledger 13 and Andreoli 12

Can we get a condition & skill update on the listed players? ie anyone stand out as pushing in contention with good kicks under plenty of pressure + weather for some lesser lights / injuries or is it about the same level of skill errors? Appreciate the updates but it does seem that Sandy should be further in front is all so merely trying to find a cause.

3RD QTR

Zebs kicking with breeze this qtr, its bout 2-3 goal breeze. Bad kicking in opening term cost the Zebs a decent lead.

Bendigo get first goal of 2nd half. Sandringham: 11.7.73 to Bendigo: 6.8.44

Nice kick by Ray sets up Wilkes 40m out. Misses though. Think thats his first shot on goal today.

Farren Ray best of the Saints. Curren having another solid match.

Bendigo get another one. 11.8.74 to 7..50

Archer kicks much needed goal for Zebs. Has kicked 2 for day. 12.8.80 to 7.8.50

Zebs in all sorts at moment. Bendigo dominating but cant make them pay on scoreboard. 12.8.80 to 8.11.59

Tom Ledger kicks a much needed goal from the middle of ground

Jamie Cripps marks 35mins out and kicks Zebs 2nd inside minute. Has kicked 3 now. 14.8.92 to 8.11.59

Matt Little gets one back & his 3rd of day for Bendigo. 31 mins gone and Zebs lead 14.8.92 to 9.11.65

3QTR TIME

Sandringham: 14.8.92
Bendigo: 9.11.65

Goals: Coleman 4, Cripps 3, Archer 2, Ledger 2, Newnes, Cook, Ross

Zebs a bit slack early, and Bendigo kick the first and dominate posession in the first 5 min.

Good play by Ledger and Ray ends with Wilkes who misses badly from 50m.

Some good spoils from Gwilt and Jacko holding them out, along with desparate tackling from all players.

Terrific mark by Ray, who was crunched by Dunell - massive noise heard 100m away. But Gwilt turned the ball over and it ends in a goal.

Archer a regulation freak goal after falling over, Wilkes dropping the mark and Archer snapping over his shouler on the boundary running away from the goals.

Little goals after a nice contested mark against Dowler.

Newnes looks like he's tagging piggy McVeigh.

Bad kick by Jack after getting it in space.

Most of the play in the first 15 with Bendigo, and getting all the decisions.

Wilkes gets it a half back but panics and kicks it into the trees.

Bendigo still got all the play with over 20 min gone.

A couple of poor efforts by Seb (bouncing error followed by kicking error then ordinary handball).

Ledger an amazing goal from the wing, that was missed by the pack 25m out, bounced on its point and just kept bouncing through the middle.

Wilkes a rushed snap from a contest in the middle is judged best by Cripps. He goals with the set shot from 50m.

Wilkes looks like he's auditioning to replace Sammy Fish as a defender. Dunell has also gone back.

Faz a poor kick OOF on his right (has kicked well on his left today).

Too many up in a pack, Little stays down and pokes it through.

Cripps still hobbling and getting his lower back worked on.

92 to 65 at the final change.

FINAL QTR

Coleman has just kicked his 5th goal for day.

Archer kicks his 3rd & Zebs lead 16.8.104 to 11.11.77

Madden gets his 4th for @BendigoFC. 16.8.104 to 12.13.85

15 mins gone & Bendigo have missed a few goals in last few minutes. Zebs lead 16.8.104 to 12.14.86

Wilkes kicks his first of day to extend Zebs lead to 24 points. 18mins gone 17.8.110 to 12.14.86

Zebs lead 18.9.117 to 12.14.86

19.9.123 to 12.14.86

Wilkes has gone back forward and gathers well. Kicks to Markworth who wasn't watching the play.

Wilkes gathers well again but doesn't get any help.

Lovely kick by Woz finds Wilkes 50m away. He passes well to Coleman who threads a very nice goal into the breeze and against the boundary.

Gwilt looks a little tired and allows his opponent to mark a bit easily 20m out directly in front (think he thought Jacko would get across to spoil).

Sikora not having a massive influence (Shepheard proving the better option today) and Bendigo get a relatively soft one from a stoppage 25m out.

Archer takes a regulation two-grabber and kicks well from 35m on an angle. Good technique!

Bendigo run the ball out of defence too easily. Good goal from the boundary.

Little has been to the Matthew Lloyd school of taking a dive, but finally misses one.

Peake tries to show some run but kicks it 55m OOF.

Ray spoils the kick-in well, but Peake is only able to scamble it over the line on the left.

Little misses again!

Nice grab by Faz from the Peake kick-in. Peake receives and turns it over. Bendigo misses again.

Lovely mark by Shepheard in a pack. Kicks it well and Wilkes gets on the end of it. Slots it from 30m on a slight angle.

Still getting a fair old touch-up with the decisions.

Nice contested mark by Wilkes, but his kick floats OOF.

Zebs looking to milk the clock a long way out. Now Gwilt kicks OOF!

Wilkes gets a free but rushes and turns it over.

Cook gets a dodgy free (payback!!!) and kicks a goal from 25m in front.

Newnes breaks a tackle well and he kicks OOF! No-one seems to have any clue about the breeze.

Ledger has had plenty of it this quarter.

Cook punches it on, Cockie does the same and Markworth finally gets some space. He swoops and snaps it through.

Good contest by Wilkes, but Shepheard butchers it ... ... OOF.

Ledger wins a free on the siren. Good kick but just misses.

124 to 86.

Well done Zebs, seem to be travelling quite well. Thanks AT and Squizz, great work from you two. Good to see Ledger and Ross getting a fair bit of it. How did Ferguson play?

It'd be nice if big man Sikora was on our list at the moment

Would be nice if he could pretend he was McEvoy for couple months!!

Watch out for Jackson Coleman, hopefully Saints have close eye on him and recruit him this year. Going to be a gun.:thumbsu:

Ok..the BIG question?

Where did Wilkes play (ie defense vs forward or both?)...and how did he go?

Against most teams we need to have Kosi and Stanly in the ruck rather than Blake. S that opens the door up forward.

With Sam out, that also opens a spot in the backline.

Beau Wilkes is 194. I very much doubt St Kilda made it up or guessed.

People do have a natural lurch or haunch which can take off some cm when they're "relaxed" or in an otherwise "normal' position. Generally in testing specific to height, people stand as tall as possible in order to achieve their maximum result.

As an example stand as you normally would and record your height, then yawn and stretch and see how "taller" you become when you stretch your skin and attempt to "reach" taller heights, you'll find you've magically grown a couple cm from your last measurements more often than not.

Point being made is take listed heights as a "gauge" as opposed to a "definite" source on a players height.

I'm not buying buying the 47 hitouts.

The other ruckmen have been much more effective in most games, and the Bendigo ruckman outpointed him most times. It was good to see him scrap and apply pressure on the ground, and he took a good mark late (doesn't normally get many marks).

In one of the games this year he played most of the match for 1 possession. Cannot see him at AFL level (based on current form), but he's done well to get up to VFL senior standard after playing reserves last year.

Coleman doesn't mark at his full height, but he's very mobile and quite clever (hence reads the play and gets on the end of things). Lovely kick too. When others were struggling from that dead pocket, he slotted one nicely. I mentioned the first time I saw him that I was surprised no-one rookied him, and certainly haven't changed on that.

Where did Wilkes play (ie defense vs forward or both?)...and how did he go?

He only played back in the second half of the third quarter. Couple of spoils.

He struggled to get into the game early, but did scrap hard all day and started to get possessions quite easily in the second half through sheer workrate.
