Simon McPhee confirms 3 time premiership & dual B&F player David Gallagher has retired. Without doubt a legend of club.

Gallagher was recruited from the Prahran Dragons in the TAC Cup to the Adelaide Football Club with the 32nd selection in the 1998 AFL Draft. He played 26 games over three seasons, including receiving AFL Rising Star nomination. In 1999 he was traded to Carlton in return for Ben Nelson. He played in seven of the first nine games of the 2002 season, but did not play again in the AFL and was delisted.

Since his AFL career, Gallagher has had a long and successful VFL career with the Sandringham Football Club. He has played 150 games for the Zebras, winning consecutive premierships with the club in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and twice winning the best and fairest award, in 2004 and 2009. In 2011, Gallagher was made club captain. He is without a doubt a legend of the Sandringham Football Club.

Games:
Adelaide - 26
Carlton - 7
Sandringham - 150

  • VFL premiership player: 2004, 2005, 2006
  • Sandringham club captain (2011)

Development Squad: Full Time @sandyzebs have defeated @BoxHillHawks 108 to 102

Markworth 4 goals, Lourey 3 for development squad

Seb Ross is lining up (knee heavily strapped).

Wilkes forward.

Roughead at CHB.

First shot a missed snap to Wilkes.

First goal to Myke Cook.

Nice dash by Lairy but hits the post from 45m.

Hawks get a point but Dowler kicks in straight back to them (another point).

Dowler outpointed in marking contest and his opponent goals.

Nice saving grab by Blakey but Jacko turns it over. Lairy with the saving tackle.

Terrible kick by Armo nearly works out but Shaggy misses with a snap.

Skills are ordinary in nice conditions. Hawks kickout goes straight to Cockie who goals from 40m in front.

Good play again by Blakey but Wilkes wasn't able to finish off.

Hawks rebound with a bouncing goal from inside the square. 15 to 14.

Wilkes marks and goals from 15m after good play from Dunell. 21 to 15.

Brilliance from Milera to get the hitout and follow up - almost kicking the goal after dodging a couple - but the smothered kick lands with Coleman who pokes it over. 27 to 15.

Faz gets a free and kicks a beauty from 50m.

Blakey doing real well. Ross clever although looks tired.

Mini a poster from a snap after Wilkes almost grabs it at the top of the square. Milera again lively.

Wilkes drops another mark under pressure on the wing and the Hawks rebound for a goal. 34 to 22.

Brilliant by Cockie to burst through a tackle and goal from 40m.

Nice saving mark by Polo (no surprise) but butchers the kick (no surprise).

40 to 22 at qtr time. No real breeze to speak of.

Myke Cook kicks kicks first goal for the Zebs. Lead 1.1 to 0.0

Wilkes & Milera both miss shots. 1.2 to 0.0

2012 AFL Vic Development League

Sandringham 15.18 (108)
Box Hill Hawks 15.12 (102)
GOALS: Markworth 4 Lourey 3 Stapleton 2 Lever 2 Jones Mavric Staley Irving
BEST: Bruno Meehan Markworth Irving Michaliades Jones

Cockie marks on turnover 40m out directly in front. Kicks it straight over his head. Zebs lead 2.3.15 to 1.2.8

Beau Wilkes & Farren Ray kick goal each 4.3.27 to 2.3.15

Wilkes looking great up forward. Nearly pulls down a ripping mark. Minchington roves but hits post 4.4 to 2.3 #GoZebs

mmm radio saying its 5.4 to 3.4

must have missed a Zebs goal somewhere!!

Cockie kicks his 2nd goal. Now 6.4.40 to 3.4.22 #GoZebs

Qtr Time at TBBO & @sandyzebs lead @BoxHillHawks 6.4.40 to 3.4.22 Goals to Cockie 2, Cook, Wilkes, Ray, Coleman

Simpkin playing on Roughead. Wilkes still forward. Milera & Cockie amongst the best.

Box Hill get one back, 12 points in it

Dunnel kicks one for Zebs 7.5 to 4.4

Nice spoil from Blake but sharked by the Hawks for a goal.

Simpkin running with Roughead who's gone forward.

Lovely grab by Dunell who plays on and belts it through.

Too many up in a contest and the Hawks goal.

Another beauty by Dunell but this time he misses from 50m.

Milera is everywhere. Snaps a nice goal from 40m.

Great play by Saad who spots Dunell at 25m. He misses again (his kicking leg is very heavily strapped).

Great play by Simpkin to stop what looked like a certain goal to Roughead.

Mini goals from 30m after cutting off a pass. 60 to 34.

A couple of great spoils by Simpkin and Blake.

Blakey again with the saving grab in front of Roughead.

Coleman - nice player. Surprised he didn't get rookied at 196cm and with good pace.

Now hurt after Wilkes crashed into him!

Wilkes too strong for his opponent and marks at 15m and goals.

Armo cuts a pass off and mongrels it through from 50m. 75 to 35 at half time.

Armo has had a ton of it along with Cockie, but hasn't been that clean with the disposals. Ross has been on and off the ground. Newnes has done a job at half back. Dunell's marking has been a feature, but he's often been running into the same contest as Wilkes.

Milera is a funny one. Gets the ball and immediately has a bounce. Needs to get that out of his game. Was very influential that half.

Crocker has had some possessions in tight, but not a lot in space.

Saad has pressured well but not big stats at this stage.

Ray and Polo have been solid enough.

Curren has worked hard but been a little fumbly and missed a few targets.

Minchington started to get into the game after a quiet first term.

Blake and Simpkin were excellent down back.

Minchinton extends @sandyzebs lead to 26 points. 9.6.60 to 5.4.34 #GoZebs

Wilkes showing that he is a forward and not a defender once again today.

Wilkes kicks his 2nd. Now out to 34 points

HALF TIME

Sandringham: 11.9.75
Box Hill: 5.5.35

Goals: Cockie 2, Wilkes 2, Cook, Ray, Coleman, Milera, Dunnell, Minchinton, Armitage

Best would be: Cockie, Wilkes, Armitage, Milera
