Hello guys and gals of the Blue variety.
Got a spare 290k to splash on a defender so I'm eyeing off 3 of your boys, Duigan, Jamison or Watson. Any words of wisdom you could dispense regarding pre-season, likely hood to play round one and/or danger of the green vest would be much appreciated.

Watson's been the best of the three during pre-season (at least in my opinion). Jamison is the only one of those three who would be guaranteed a game every week, though he's very injury prone. Duigs was promoted to the leadership group last year, but, as we saw with Russell, that does not translate to regular playing time. I'd go Watson, personally, particularly if he gets named for Round 1.

Zac Tuohy @ 289 K - worth the bet? Will he get to run free a bit more under Mick? Will he even get constant games?

Thanks.

IMO he will get constant games - but no-one really knows what plan Mick has up his sleeve. What is good though is he has been training with the midfield group with the plan to work into a wing position. But, who knows if that will work out. There was an article last week or the week before talking about his midfield potential.
Based on all of that I would guess that he will increase his 2012 avg score so could be worth picking up. Yarran @ 311K would be a safer bet though.

Am I absolutely mad for selecting Brock McLean?

Brock has had a really good preseason - BOG in both intra-clubs. His 2012 scores were good.

However, a concern would be his potential to keep scoring as well as 2012 when all the other midfielders are in the team. In other words, can Brock keep racking up the possessions when Murph, Carrots, Simmo, Judd, Gibbs etc are all in the one team - because I don't think that happened much when Brock played last year.

Perhaps Murph @ 522 K would be a safer option. A little bit more expensive but slightly more reliable.

Mick said he's going to play him more on the wing. If he takes to it, I think he could be lethal.

No. You're very smart.

Thanks for the replies, all. I don't know why but Brock is still pretty much my favourite player in the entire league. As etsal1 mentioned, his scoring capabilities when you have your best team on the park is still questionable so at his price (SuperCoach, by the way), he's still a bit of a risk. I'll monitor him.

Best of luck for the coming year. Happy to respond to any Melbourne-related questions. :)

Would love your thoughts on: the job security of Terlich, Viney and Pedersen. Best 22? What role will Pedersen play for you guys. What about Watts? Would you pick him/where would you rank him with similarly priced FWD/BACK players such as Dusty, Broughton, Hartlett, Heppell.

What are peoples thoughts on Laidler. Do you think he will improve is 60s average of 2011.

Hi guys, I have Kruezer locked in as my number 1 ruck and Gibbs in my defense. I'm tossing up whether to switch Gibbs out for the cheaper Yarran, and use the extra cash to upgrade someone else in the midfield. What are the blues fans thoughts on these moves?

wouldn't lock Kruze until we see some game time. I'm inclined to have both Gibbs and yarran but if you just want one........ gibbs wont fail and yarran can go missing sometimes. as for this year. only time will tell

- Terlich: It's hard to say at this early stage. Our backline is probably our biggest 'strength' (for lack of a better word) and with more established players such as Frawley, Garland, McDonald, Watts and Dunn, he may have difficulty in getting consecutive games. In saying that, it's very much a situation where we'll just have to wait for the Round 1 teams.
- Viney: Safe as houses.
- Pederson: I think Neeld actually prefers Clark as the pinch ruckman as opposed to Pederson, and I'm not quite sure where that leaves him. I think he'll be playing third forward/swingman, pinch rucking when necessary.
- Watts: He's in my team but still risky, not unlike all of those players you have listed!

All the best.
