Who now replaces the Doughty + B.Smith hole?

Talia, Rutten, S.Shaw, Reilly locked best 22 from what i understand about the crows based on last year.

Does NVB push back, does crouch, kerridge play back line. Will tmabling be an ideal replacement for B.Smith?

What can Martin, Lyons, Grigg do

You guys have plenty of depth, does Johncock now go back?

Has Dangerfield been set for more forward time? someone on the DT board mentioned that but i doubt it

At this stage I think Tambling is probably first in line for Doughty's spot and I feel the club rates Luke Brown extremely highly and are keen to back him in as much as possible. We saw this last year when he played a few games where his SANFL form didn't really demand it over a couple of others. I think he'll see a lot of opportunities this year.

Have hit my salary cap and am now looking for a dpp defender who i can swap with Staker if required.
Looking at Johncock v R Henderson. Both didn't play a full season last year (16 v 10 games)
Am looking for someone who is going to be regularly in the starting 22 (or has more chance).
Would like to hear adelaide supporters thoughts on which of the above 2 you would pick and why

I would say Johncock at the start of the year. He should bob up and kick a few goals, but reckon his form may drop away at the end of the year. And Henderson at the end of the year. Seems to always start the year injured or out of form then slowly build towards the end. Don't think either will be big scorers though. High risk/reward picks.

Hard to say definitively at this stage, Johncock was definitely on the outer throughout last year, spending a decent amount of time at Port Adelaide in the SANFL and then finished the year as our Sub. Also not sure he'd score particularly well up forward. I really wouldn't consider him.

Henderson is one worth watching over the preseason. The club gave him a 3 year contract towards the end of last year, so they obviously see a lot in him. Expect him to play a lot of footy up on the wing, is probably your real prototype wingman, tall, quick, massive tank, good skills and can kick a long way. He does have issues with consistency, his body can let him down and he's not exactly the hardest guy in the side. I certainly expect him in the side round 1.

Hendo had the ball on a string when he came on in the 2nd half today. played high half forward and drifted back to loose man late in the game. Very handy and skillful player, i would say lock him in but theres just one thing. He's pretty much the perfect sub candidate a coach can ask for. Will be bouncing around between the best 22 and sub throughtout the season. Hopefully this year he stays in the best 22 more often.

Hi Guys,

Strongly considering Matty Wright and I may be off the mark but I thought he played some defensive roles last year is that likely to happen this year?

Hard to say at this stage. He had a few run with roles last year but was still able to rack it up. Van Berlo is used as a run with player a lot of the time and im not sure a second run with is actually necessary. If he does, it won't be a ridiculously tight tag like Crowley, more just a defensive midfielder. Has been playing through the guts the last 2 pre season games and is carving it up but thats pre season. watch closely over these next 2-3 games. he could still average 90ish with defensive duties, but if he is going to go 95+ will need some more freedom.

How has the porpoise been travelling? I picked him up in our fantasy elite draft and just wonder how he has been going over the pre-season?

How do you think Shaw will go this year? Play most games? Ave score?

Was fine until last few weeks, had a bit of an injury but will play round 1, nothing major at this stage. Cemented himself into the side last year and i would expect him to play 22 games. He's a very handy player, good in the contest and has a decent left leg on him so uses the footy well when he has to. Should average around the same this year, maybe bump it up by 5 or so but nothing major. Most of the rebounding duties will go to Smith/Bling/Brown etc.

Forget about his scoring, your biggest concern over Shaw should be his ability to remain injury free. This kid missed 95% of his first 2 years on the list due to injury and is on the injury list again right now. His durability has to be a major concern, making him a high risk selection for either DT or SC. He does have potentially good returns, with considerable scope for improvement in his game, but that comes with higher than average risk of him missing multiple games due to injury.

How do you think Jacob's will go this year? Do you think the departure of Tippett will impact Jacob's time on the ball and hence fantasy score?
cheers,

Had a great year in the ruck last year and should have been AA but his DT numbers dropped slightly. Dont think that Tippet gone should really affect too much as Jenkins is more than okay to ruck in the forward half of the ground. Graham was also recruited who is a very good tap ruckmen and can give Jacobs some much needed rest which may boost his DT output. Expect around an average 90 this year from big sauce.

Saw in your "Who will play Tippetts old role" thread that most of you think Josh Jenkins. What would you guys be expecting out of him games and points wise? Similar to last year or should he be pushing 70-80 avg?

Josh Jenkins is the man! :p Sando says the spot is still up for grabs, but its Jenkins to loose right now. he is way ahead of all the other options in my opinion. Has a bit of X factor to his game and him and Tex could make a pretty interesting forward line to watch. In terms of games, im hoping and expecting him to play 20+ games. Sando recently said that he isnt afraid to play a carlton style forward line with 5 smalls around Tex, But Jenkins has such good speed, agility, versatility and decent ruck work, so all these combined should see him stay in the side unless injury/ridiculously bad form hits. No idea what this guy will average to be exact, but I'm expecting something of at least 75+. Cant see him averaging more than 85 to be honest so somewhere in that bracket ;) haha

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at him for a draft im doing where most of the good rucks are gone, so i would probably need him to average 75-80. Only one available i would maybe pick in front of him atm is Kreuzer

Yeah depending on what players are taken where, im hoping to pick him up a bit later in the draft as a bit of a smokey, plus he also has R/F eligibility which cant hurt. While he is still raw as a players, the big man is showing lots of promising signs. Tippet before the round 11 bye and concussions was killing it DT wise and averaging around the 90-95 mark from memory. So obviously there are some serious points there for the taking, and i would expect Jenkins to lift his average past the 70 mark as an absolute minimum this season. Should be taking forward 50 ruck contests as well so that adds to his potential.

HEard that young Crouch had a great game last week....are you guys of the opinion he is a vest wearer this year? I have him in my team as the #8 mid....but Mitchell at Port looks likely to get games....

Advice please..? Cat questions happily answered.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on Luke Brown and if he'll start round 1?

Good chance at this stage, with Brodie Smith injured and Tambling struggling with some niggles a small defender spot is his for the taking. Plus I think the club rate him extremely highly and are keen to get him settled at the level, he'll be give plenty of chances IMO.
