Now the dust has settled, what are everyones thoughts on Crouch. Still a candidate for the vest, or has he gone past that now?

(glad your guys pulled thier socks up against Carlton. Bit worried there for a while.)

I have enourmous love for SA and their two teams. Hopefully you can get some success soon.

Hey guys and girls, what is the go with Callinan? Is he injured? Likely to play every game if he isn't?

Thanks and good luck for your season.

Wouldn't touch him in DT/SC, is by no means a certain best 22 starter and even if he is, he struggles against decent opposition, especially those with experienced hardened bodies, where his lack of size and relative lack of pace count against him. At 29 he has little improvement left and may give up his spot to a youngster like Crouch.

The more he plays, the more Crouch looks like a certain starter. Settled in to NAB cup football very nicely and I think we'll be keen to get as many games into him as possible.

Hi Guys,

I've always rated Van Berlo fairly highly but he's been tagging a lot in recent years. He seems let of the chain a little during NAB Cup. Will this continue?

I hope so.

He will always be a sort of run with player. He is one of the fittest players in the AFL and is a tackling machine. Its not that he is a tagger, he just runs with one of the oppositions best midfielders at times and keeps a close watch on them. I would call it a defensive midfield role rather than tagging. He can also hurt teams offensively and likes to bob up forward to kick a team goal through pure gut running. But I think this year he will perform the same role again.

However, DTwise VB's numbers were down due to the emergence of other midfielders i think. He had an average year in terms of basic statistics (disposals, marks etc). I think he has looked very lively in the NAB and may push into the 90s region again for DT

Wouldn't go near Van Berlo myself in DT as he just doesn't play a role that allows he to rack up big numbers often, or anywhere near enough to make him close to a premium. It now looks as if Wright could get the run with roles from time to time which could push Van Berlo out of the midfield further (perhaps to the HBF). Racks up plenty of tackles but that's about all he's got going for him.

Was rather keen on him going into last year with his form once Bickley took over (averaged around 123 DT and something like 26-28 disposals a game in that 6 game period) but he wasn't anything too exciting going into the pre season and turned out to be a big let down last year (thankfully I didn't go for him in the end).

Reason I asked was that his last game against Carlton he scored 94 in DT with Pangerfield, Thompson, Sloan & Crouch on field. Seemed like Wright was tagging thru the midfield. But still unsure of whether to pull the trigger. He would be a great unique pick.

Probably not at this point. He will probably be in and out of the team all year anyways, so I wouldn't pick him. Not worth it

Thanks. Just looking for some depth in defence for my draft league. might try and sign harbrow on a waiver instead, as he slipped through.

Harbrow slipped through?!? pick him up straight away haha. should play on a wing this year and do very well

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the team round 1, however it would probably be as Sub and he'll only be there till Smith can get back into the side. Has been competing with Brown for a spot, but both played the full game together IIRC against Carlton. Difference is though that Brown is a capable defender, Jaensch is really only good when loose.

I wouldn't mind if he was in the team, his kicking is quite an asset. If he could add a defensive side to his game he could be quite valuable, but as it stands I can't really see him getting in the team over Brown. I wouldn't mind seeing Jaensch moving up the ground a bit though

He won't get in over Brown, however when I look at our side used against Carlton and look forward to the side that will be picked against Essendon, I think we might see him line up as our sub.

Crows supporters have been crying out for this for a long time, is a tad frustrating. We should flick Sando an email hey ;)

So at the end of NAB cup, what are peoples thoughts on Kerridge?

Thankyou for your time. :footy:

Will play a lot of if not all the year in the Sanfl. Seems to really be taking his time and struggling to adapt to the speed of afl.

How far is Brodie Smith? Round 3? After having most of a preseason, he shouldn't be set back to much on match fitness should he?

Yeah they should have him on the bikes or something like that so fitness shouldnt be too much of an issue. may be lacking a tad of match fitness and arm strength but nothing major.

So this is my first year playing and I must say that this format is very different from the way I play Fantasy (American) Football over here. My thinking is that I should have lots of young players that are cheap now but could be worth a ton by season's end, and Crouch, O' Meara, and Viney are just too cheap to pass up.

My question is, when these guys end up skyrocketing in value, what do you do? Do you just keep them because they're producing or do you sell them and upgrade your other players? Also when is a good time to do this?

THe main stratergy that people go with are guns and rookies. They select a handful of top end players in each position, and then fill the rest of their team with rookies who will play and rise up in value. They then wait around 7-10 rounds when the rookies have almost maxed out their price and either swap them for a premium, or downgrade them to another rookie and pocket the cash. You probably dont want to keep them, as rookies will eventually stop making you money, which is their main aim. But also a premium can averaged around 90-115, where are a rookie might max out at 80 at very best. most rookies averaged around the 55-75 mark. If you kep them for too long, youre going to loose out on points.

THere are websites, or even if you buy assistant coach ( its only 20 dollars ) that provide you with a number called a Break even (BE). Say Crouch has a BE of about 70 in round 10, that means he is going to need to score higher than 70 to go up in price. THis number helpes you to determine when to get rid of rookies and trade them in.
