Earlier in the year I saw a couple of posts regarding Jarryd Lyons and his chances of playing consistently in the first team. How do people see his job security now?

Josh Jenkins is the man! :p Sando says the spot is still up for grabs, but its Jenkins to loose right now. he is way ahead of all the other options in my opinion. Has a bit of X factor to his game and him and Tex could make a pretty interesting forward line to watch. In terms of games, im hoping and expecting him to play 20+ games. Sando recently said that he isnt afraid to play a carlton style forward line with 5 smalls around Tex, But Jenkins has such good speed, agility, versatility and decent ruck work, so all these combined should see him stay in the side unless injury/ridiculously bad form hits. No idea what this guy will average to be exact, but I'm expecting something of at least 75+. Cant see him averaging more than 85 to be honest so somewhere in that bracket ;) haha

A couple of weeks on, has your opinion changed much.

I've got Jenkins in my team as his fits my structure really well but I'm not totally sold. He did pull three 90+ scores in the NAB cup so that's give me a bit of heart but having not seen any of those games I'm still a little in the dark.

Hey Crows fans,

I've got a few questions about some guys.

Brad Crouch, how did he look in the NAB Cup and is he a good shot in round one?

Do you believe David Mackay is in for a breakout year?

Is Andy Otten worth a punt?

Thoughts on Broadie Smith and Matthew Wright?

Thanks.

Brad Crouch will be a lock for Round 1. In terms of vesting or not, he may be prone to it early on...

Mackay won't be in for a breakout year DT-wise, as he is one of those players that get an okay amount of disposals, for maximum result (i.e. - Ball carrier)

Andy Otten isn't worth the punt, as his scoring potential is limited as well as injuries looming all the time.

Brodie Smith is injured for the first few rounds with a collarbone injury... But he'll be back R3-4 I think...

Matthew Wright is a unique pick, and should improve this year. Gets the hard ball and tackles a lot.

Hope this helps. :)

Damn that sucks. Might offload him then if he's tagging. Looked so good in round one of nab. What sort of role did he play in that game against freo last year?

You misunderstand me.

Crowley is a tagger. Carrots often plays to beat a specific opponent...

Carrots finds plenty of Footy. As Wright will.

Will play a lot of football this year, but the question will be consistency. He'll probably have some games up in the 90's, but at the same time he'll probably have a good number in the 40's. Certainly not a bad selection, but is still rather raw when it comes to Football and will spend a lot of time rotating between 2nd KPF and rucking(which he's not particularly good at, so don't expect high hitout numbers).

Just to back up Bostrich Burger...

I ummed and ahh'd about Crouch, he's now in my side having seen his preseason. Is best 22 and it wouldn't suprise if he was performing to the point that he doesn't even get considered for the dreaded vest.

Mackay is a bad choice for DT, rarely breaks the 20 disposal mark. However not a bad choice for SC as he does run and carry and is an elite user of the footy. Doesn't have a great history with injury either. Only needs 15 touches to have a massive influence, would be a deadset gun of the competition if he could rack up 25+ touches a game and not get injured.

Andy Otten doesn't have great job security, 50/50 chance at best for round 1 and even if he does play there's a good chance he'll quickly lose his spot to Sam Shaw.

Broadie Smith will develop into an awesome player, however broke his collarbone and is unlikely to be back in the early rounds. Will likely also take a few weeks back to aclimatise again to AFL football.

Matty Wright is a WYSIWYG type player, I doubt he'll improve his score much, but by the same token he's unlikely to drop it, even if he gets the run with roles. Knows where to find the footy, good tackler and kicks goals, just doesn't probably find enough of the footy on a consistent basis to be an elite fantasy player.

I'm going to pick Wright as a forward. Will offer some consistency there, which is something you don't usually get with permanent forwards. Can also put him in the middle if I get an injury.

sucks that crouch isn't in your named side...thought he would have been a lock considering his last game in the pre-season...he'll be staying on my bench nonetheless.

How does everyone feel about Luke Brown? Good job security and scoring potential?

Luke Brown, massive vest candidate or potential startable backline rookie?

I know lots have asked about Brown guys but seeing as he's named can you enlighten me to his value in comparison to Stevenson of Port who has been in my team for weeks now.

Put on bench if you pick him don't think he will get much of the ball just yet.
