I disagree that he is going to be good, he is going to be excellent ;)

Most Cats fans would crucify me for that trade offer but I think Gawn is going to be a dominant ruck.
I would have thought so, the thing is he was a joke in the kicking for goals department for example last year and now he can hold his own, get some muscle on him jamar style and we could be on the right track

Roos has a great history with rucks and I don't believe that Gawn will be any diferrent.

The only problem would be if Jamar has a revival but that would be a good problem to have.

Gawnius Maximus is the future. Had an awesome early part of the year, struggled once his fitness started to let him down later.

But he's 21 and had 2 knee recos. Now that he's getting on the park he'll be fine, and once he muscles up it's going to be Sandi mkII.

I completely agree, the guy is a monster.

Like Sandy the guy is a walking mismatch.

Paul Roos has not wasted any time and not a minute too soon.

What do you guys think about the potential of trading Gawn? What would his value be?
Won't go anywhere. I don't think you need a ruckman anyway, you've got a lot of talented rucks already - Dawson, Vardy, West, McIntosh and Blicavs fighting for the 2 ruck spots.

What happened with Couch? Seemed like he was gonna be good enough to make the grade last year.

Nah. Offers exactly what Magner does with shittier disposal (and Magner isn't flash).

I wanna persist with Tappy. Remember his first game? Dudes were down in demons shop at halftime getting his number on their guernseys. I reckon he should be in the midfield. Just hammer guys.
Haha I was one of them.. He's a beast and just needs to get fit.. Still hasn't done a preseason which is killing him

my mate who works at casey every now and then told me most of them are seriously shocked about it. Clearly great work ethic is then sad that he couldnt make it.

I obviously could be wrong but I believe Gawn will be a top tier ruck within the next few seasons, his size and groundwork makes him an intriguing prospect who would give us exactly what we lack currently.

Dawson Simpson I believe could be very good but he has had chronic back problems and now a serious knee injury.

Vardy's chronic hip injury makes me believe he'd be much better off as the Pods replacement up forward.

West will most likely move on looking for an opportunity and I wouldn't blame him as I feel he's deserved more of an opportunity with us.

Blicavs is an intriguing prospect with his size and elite cardio, he could potentially be groomed in a KPD or as the third tall in the backline imo.

I know the chances of getting Gawn are slim to none but I'd probably swing for the fences in our situation.

Gawn won't be going anywhere, he loves the club, thus why he just signed a new contract. Will be our top ruckman without a doubt.

We would take 16 + 33 + West in a heart beat.

On trade our second rounder for Longer and we have almost covered our loss.

Get effed.

Max's size and mobility for a guy his size is great, I'm not trading him for 2 shit picks and West.

Our second rounder won't get Longer and even if it did it absolutely nowhere near covers our loss.

Just a horrible horrible trade, mindbogglingly bad.

Gawn has his whole career ahead of him and will only get better - players like this don't grow on trees.

I don't even know why we would entertain trading him unless it was an offer too good to refuse.

Yeah it's not often you see a tree grow on a tree

Jeeze where has all this sudden love for our rucks come from? I swear I have read so many posts about recruiting ruckmen, I started to think some of you lot had started losing your minds!

Just to jump in on the circle jerk, Gawn should be known as THE LUMBERJACK.

I think you've been going to the wrong board.

Mids are definately #1 priority, but.....the ruck stocks are pretty out of balance with Jamar getting on and Gawn, Fitz and Spence still very green and immature to be stepping into the #1 role. I think Jolly for a late pick/rookie spot could address the gap.

For me, out of those three, Gawn in head shoulders above the other two and is the most natural footballer. Despite Fitzy's decent year, I reckon he might only ever get to the Steph Martin level.

Stef Martin was a good rap ruckmen when given responsibility but a poor forward

Fitzy is a contested marker who so far hasn't shown anything in the ruck

Completely different

At the moment spencer will be number one as his ruck work is the best of the 3 , at least until gawn gets better

I wouldn't say completely different. Their strengths are around the ground, Fitzy seems a bit more dangerous up forward, and yeah Martin was ok in the Centre. Martin was that project playing that was ultimately a bit underwhelming. If Fitzy's goes past that I'll be impressed.

Spencer still has a way to go, Jolly would be streaks better to have in 2014, that's my point.

So we have Jamar, who's aging, Whilst we have Spencer and Gawn who are developing. If we were to recruit a Mumford, Jamar and one of the other two would disappear. I think we're stocked well for the future.
