go to their board... im concerned, they believe they can get our pick 2 for vince and lyons, then on trade it to brisbane for polec, pick 7 and pick 24... wtf?

Had enough of them on this board, I'm not going over there.

would the lions and us ever go for a trade of the dees pick 2 for the lions pick 8 and jack redden?

Wouldn't have thought so. Why would you give up a good mid so you can go from drafting a potentially very good mid to having your pick of the potentially very good mids?

A lot of talk about trading in. What about trading out?

With Gawn a likely starter (depending on Jamar's form and health) and Fitz's development going well; should we look a Spencer to the Saints for their 3rd round pick?

I looked at their list, and Hickey is all they have now. At 24 Spencer is hardly past it. IMO he's just never going to be an elite player. Plus he could do himself a favour. Earn decent coin (for him) as a travelling back up through out his career.

Plus to cover our depth, Jolly as a delisted FA for a year or two would fill a gap.

was starting to think that... with the players rumoured we are going to have to trade for mid range picks

We've put a lot of time and effort into Spencer. A third round pick seems pretty poor compensation for someone who looks like they might be about to come good. Better to hang on to him and see if he makes the grade this season.

Saints 3rd round at this stage is pick 37... Fair compo for Spencer IMO. He has a year left on his contract, so if he doesn't get a crack this year he may leave for nothing next year; and with Gawn, Fitz and Jamar there are no guarantees he'll play at all.

Might be fair given where he's at and what he's done for us, but if he starts tearing it up for St Kilda this coming season I'm not going to feel chuffed about the deal. Jamar spends a fair bit of his time injured, Gawn is still building match fitness and learning his trade and Fitz is more forward than ruck. I think you'll find Spencer will get game time.

If we're going to trade with the Saints we may as well demand their pick 17, they have exposed form on wild trading.

Rule no.1 of trading.

If remotely possible - trade with St Kilda.

A couple of rumors floating around (stressing 'rumors')

Possible 3-way (Freo, Norf, Us) trade to get Michie, Greenwood and Mellington; I'd heard a week ago that Michie had agreed to come to us so it could (stress the word could) be the reason for a hold up.

If I had to guess we'd need to let go of a player... (Blease because Brad Scott wants run and is on TV record as rating Blease highly)

Melb - IN: Greenwood, Michie, Mellington OUT: Blease, pick 36
Norf - IN: Blease, 54 OUT: Greenwood, 3rd rounder (43ish IIRC).
Freo - IN: 36, 43ish OUT: Michie, Mellington, 54

Win, Win, Win in my books.

We're very keen on Vince for our 2nd.

Heath Shaw allegedly meeting with Melb officials next week, not in the frame for #2 though.

Keen on Vince for 2nd rounder yeah?

Tyson would be an okay get, hasn't set the world on fire - we'd probably have to use #2 which makes it less 'good' a get.

I haven't read anything more about him, the rumor about Tyson was from Greg Denham... so take it with a grain of salt!

I clearly rate Greenwood higher than this trade would suggest

What, you guys don't want to give us pick 2 for a guy that'll be in the stands in 3 years? Just when all your youngsters have 70-100 games under their belt and are peaking?
My favourite was lyons and vince for pick 2, then you guys trade it to brisbane for pick 7, polec and pick 24... after that I gave up when it was defended

You guys have to just take aish at pick 2. Remember watching his dad dominate for the red legs in the 1980's. If he is half as good as his old man, you will have an absolute gun on your hands.

I think you are right tbh, things will have to massively change for us to trade him, wouldnt mind bassett either tbh, considering we have poached some legs people recently, why stop hahah

Huge win for us, North getting completely bent over there. They would want at least a far higher pick than 54... I know Greenwood doesn't get many games but I would still rate him well ahead of Blease, not to mention Mellington and Michie given he has runs on the board.
