Would love to see Crows somehow land Crouch Jnr. Make for good viewing. And performane in spades, absolute terriers at the contest starting from Rnd 1 next year. Be great.

The Vince move is good for all IMO. He gets the long deal on big coin, we get a good pick for trade currency or ND selection.

Win/Win IMO.

In regard to Polec. If we want him bad, we now have something to work with. In combo with a player, we could win over Brisbane. Dont know if we can win over Polec though, might need a significant increase of $. Personally, I'd use it to jack up Ports purhcase price, but ultimately keep the pick for the draft. Guess it depends on how highly Sando and Noble rate him though.
Polec always said happy to go to either team ......that situation hasn't changed

Copped as much as most young players do when they do something stupid

Really?

But we're supposed to unconditionally support our players right? Or are we only supposed to support our player if they help us win?

Never mind, I get it. Thanks.

I think the thought of that 4 x $450k made him feel wanted elsewhere. :)

Not the impression his manager gave this afternoon. Pretty much encouraged to look elsewhere, confronting discussion etc etc.

I think you need to take a break from here mate, if only for your own sanity.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, he's our player now so its time to get behind him

Until he plays like a Tambling or a VB, Pods should be given respect and not bashed on here before he has even played a single game in Crows colours.:thumbsu:

Have people given up hope of another key signing this trade period?

If Betts, Podsiadly and maybe Edwards are all we get will people be happy?

We were led to believe by the AFC that we were going to restructure several contracts to soak up the unpaid 2013 Tippett dollars and free up dollars for us to lure players with 2014 and 2015 contract payments.

Contract decisions such as the two year Reilly extension and the 2016  van Berlo deal looked utterly stupid on the surface, but my hope was that they were part of this redistribution. Eg pack a bunch of Reilly/VB dollars into re-jigged deals which include very large payments in 2013, and bugger all beyond that. Would give us a great deal of freedom beyond 2013.

The money we have to play with is staggering when you add it up. We offered Tippett a deal supposedly in the ballpark of $800k x 3 years and were unable to fill this void with anyone last season. And according to some posters, we also were outbid for Pearce independent of the Tippett saga (ie we were going to do this anyway and had dollars to throw at it). I don't know if this is true but either way, it means a truckload of $$$$ available.

Now, even taking the Pearce $$$'s completely out of it, if we were competent we would have at a minimum $2.4m to spend on NEW players in 2014 and 2015. We've got Betts at $1m over those two years - excellent. Great result. And J-Pod for...??? Surely not $1.4m. So there is a significant void.

My fear initially is that the downer we've been on as a club since Tippettgate and the ongoing effect of draft sanctions will make it hard to attract the players we want. So, we've got the money but no one to spend it on. Yikes - this would be a terrible situation.

My fears however were assuaged by two things. First, Betts. Second, Polec. You beauty. There were at least two sought-after players keen to come here. Good news!

However, this positive result has led to a different concern when we didn't land Polec. How could we possibly not? We should have been able to blow Port's offer out of the water. Yes, it would have been overs but when you aren't bringing in 1st or 2nd rounders for two years you do what you have to do.

When he chose Port it made me wonder if we don't have that much money up the sleeve. Why not? Did we allow our existing players to chip into it with their requests? Or even more concerning, did we take the opportunity in what was a lean financial year bogged down with a large club fine, legal fees and poor on-field performance to trim our spendings? In other words, pay out only a portion of the salary cap to look after the bottom line. So we couldn't afford to outbid Port for Polec.

I've read on a couple of occasions that next years free agents list is much better than than this year... I'd be expecting a big target in the next 12 months is true

Or they could have an elite player out of contract next year or a FA that has intimated they will be a Crow next year, sometimes patience can be a virtue......not necessarily on this board but!!!:)

So Jpod gets a bigger contract at 32 years of age than we gave Lewis Johnson, and also when any of our own guys reach 30 its one year deals baby. Unless your an old Geelong buddy of Sandos.
Reilly says hi.

KPP ...KPP .....KPP ....KPP

WTF don't people understand about our list defficiencies

Pods only here for 2 years as a bandaid for a KPP drafted this year to develop
Outside of Boyd, this draft is meant to be quite poor on KPP players so we can't exactly pluck them out of air. Next year on the other hand is meant to have quite a number of strong KPP from what I've read so we may as well wait until the quality is good before loading up on them.

Doesn't matter. You will just dismiss it anyway. So why bother.

It was funny for a while, but you really should just step away from the computer for a few days. You're spiraling. You're better than this but you're becoming a parody of yourself.

Why?

My sister is next door neighbours to Vince's parents house in Stansbury and I was speaking to his dad the week before last (school holidays).

I told this board about Tex going into the footy show a week before hand as both were visiting. I was very, VERY confident he wasn't going anywhere and said so before the trade period. Then he got shopped around.

But, this board will roll your eyes and call "pants on fire" to that one.
