I would've thought Lever would be gone by pick 7? Should be interesting.

Reid and Jaksch would pretty much set our KPP stocks for a while. Would still be tempted with McKenzie if he's available in the 2nd round.

How would you fit Reid and Jaksch in?

I was thinking about Waite leaving. If we offered a 1 year deal with option for a second year if he plays X games - maybe he knows that with Jaksch coming Waite isn't a walk up start? Given Jaksch's age & Waite's age - if it were between the two for the same spot (given Levi & Lachie are walk up starts), maybe he thinks Mick would pick the younger 1? And if he did he probably thinks there's a chance he wouldn't be able to earn the second year of the deal as he won't play enough games.

If we get Jaksch & Reid and everyone is fit - you'd think one of them has to play defence. Because I don't think we'll play Lachie in defence unless we have to (Jamo or Rowe injured) and there's Watson too. If we only get Jaksch he just takes Waite's spot.

I like Lever more than Durdin.

But if we get Jaksch & Reid we should probably pick best available mid. But then again if best available is a tall then we pick the tall.

If we only get Jaksch in terms of talls through trades, I don't know :p
Don't rate Reid as much as most and if it came down to a Lever/Reid situation, it's Lever without thought for me. Jaksch would be great, hope the rumours that he's basically a Blue are true.

It shouldn't become a Reid or Level situation. I wouldn't think we were handing over pick 6 just for Reid.

Many things change, don't think it will either but for all we know Mitchell is off the table and we see Reid as another option to poach.

As Harks posted earlier, maybe Mitchell was never the target and it was a distraction from the real target?

Hope not, would love Titch in blue but I'm not fussed if it's next year or later, pick 7 alone is too much for a player, despite talent, that's only played a few games and struggling to crack the seniors and is probably going to miss out on a GF when he's healthy. I like the idea of trading to #15 + #22 ect but then we have no shot at Lever.

Who do you think could be the true target?

No idea.

But if Mitchell doesn't want to leave & was never the target - it's not really worth worrying about.

But..but..but it's fun :D
Of course it is :p

Just been reading on twitter some people angry at the club/opposition supporters ridiculing us because Jay Clark now says Mitchell has 'turned his back on our offer'.
1. Who said there was ever an offer?
2. Who said we even want Mitchell?
3. Who said Mitchell wants to leave?
4. Sydney easily could have said Mitchell is untouchable.

With his old man ended his career on a sour note, hasn't been getting games this year, Heeney/Mills ect. just makes you hope there's something to it.

Haven't heard anything about us being mocked but who cares, plenty of rumours and Sydney supporters were set on pick 7 makes me believe it won't be till next year. If there's anything in Mitchell wanting out to Carlton only, I can't see Sydney waiting until they are over a barrel.

The club probably shouldn't be publishing this: http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2014-09-19/mckay-confirms-interest-in-mitchell

The AFL has knocked back Melbourne's request for a priority selection at the upcoming national draft.

The Demons had made a request for a priority pick, which are only awarded at the discretion of the AFL commission, which discussed the request on Monday and decided against granting the Demons an extra pick.

Melbourne was informed verbally on Monday and officially on Tuesday.

They'll just make sure Melbourne get pick 3 for Frawley despite Sheahan wanting to intervene.

Didn't Paul Roos say that all the Clubs agreed to Melbourne receiving a pp!

The other clubs were strongly opposed to Melbourne receiving a priority pick, though the Demons have won only 10 games in three seasons and would qualify for one under the old formula.

Good try Roosy!

It's the Frawley one I'm interested in.....so not worth Pick 3. I've said it before - end of 1st round should have always been Band 1. Avoids stupid situations like the Frawley saga.

It mocks the system if a decent player (read: not elite) nets a club pick 3 just because that club is poor. The very nature of Free Agency inflates a players' value and I hope the AFL recognises that and awards compensation accordingly.

I honestly don't think we play in the draft .... There are enough great young (ish) players in the market to be bold and trade ourselves into the game. Pick 6 has great currency. Giles, Jaksch and Frost could come cheap. Lumumba and Malceski could add instant class. Shiels (GWS) and Mitchell are getable, but would take something. First 2 draft picks Robbo, Garlett, Lucas, Watson, Ellard, Armfield, and Warnock on the trade block to get them (may not need all them ...)

Have I missed something? Why is everyone referring to our 1st Rd pick as #7??? Inside knowledge or assumption that the Frawley compo will be Band 1 #3???

The latter, as I think most may have resigned to it happening.
If we do though get the #6 .................................party time.

Can't speak for the recruiters but I think we may be pretty happy to have one of McCartin, Wright, Durdin, Lever, Petracca or Brayshaw fall into our hands.

Then again, there's always a bolter or two

Can a draft watcher expand on Durdin? From my 2 minutes of extensive research has sound marking, reads the ball well, streak of agro...but kicking appears to need a lot of work. Struggled to kick 40m on a couple of set shots...kind of the anti Watto.

If Frawley is worth Pick 3 then I'm a monkey's uncle (and some might say I resemble one in any event).

Nevertheless, Brayshaw or Lever won't slip. Durdin if available is exactly what the doctor ordered in any event.
