I'm still torn about McKenzie ... if he's on board still come late in the second/third round (and provided we have a pick), would we still take him?

Especially if we already have secured Jaksch (via trade), Lever (Pick #7) ?

Would settle our KPP stocks for a longggg while ... then again, I thought the same after we drafted Watson, McCarthy and Mitchell in 2010 :D

Does anybody else think we could possibly package up Pick #7 with Garlett and send it to Melbourne for their Frawley compo? (Pick #3?).
Would allow us a shot at whoever is left of McCartin/Wright/Petracca and would allow Melbourne more 'bang for their buck' by adding a Best 22 player whilst still having access to a good kid at Pick #7.

They did something similar last year with GWS (allowing them to get Tyson and moving down 6 spots).

I do think Melbourne will try to trade that pick, for not for Garlett & pick 7.

Garlett wouldn't get us a 2nd Rd selection this year. #7 + #20ish (best 2nd rd pick this year after compo picks given out ) wouldn't get us #3. No chance that deal would go through

The Jets have a great crop this year :thumbsu:

Ellis a ready made AFL footballer too. Laverde clearly the pick of the squad. Elite kicking according to recruiters.
Boss also reckons Wright is overrated. Just his opinion from watching games live.

Quick question about the show "The Recruit". The winner (and by the sounds of it a couple of other contestants too) were able to choose an AFL side to be "recruited" by as a Cat B Rookie (e.g. Rookie with no background in the AFL for x number of years). Isn't this the same category that international rookies, or those from other backgrounds (e.g Athletes such as Blicavs or Basketball such as Wood for the Pies) are rookied as. In each occasion the player doesn't go through a draft, but instead he goes straight to the club of their choice.

I only bring this up after reading Slobbo's (comical) article against Ed and "The Recruit" TV show. Here he finishes his article by saying

All of me says Eddie McGuire can’t complain about not having an uncompromised competition in any fashion, when he’s making money from a TV show which absolutely compromised the integrity of the national draft.

Does he REALLY not realize that ALL rookies drafted under this category choose their club of choice???

If our recent drafting is anything to go by we'd jump at Lever. Leadership qualities and massive potential would get the recruiting department erect and since we have Menzel I doubt they'd be fazed over his injury.
knightmare has him going at pick number 3 - bolting back up the rankings.

After missing most of the season, I'd be awaiting his draft camp results.

how does he go up in rating after not playing?? Is it because the rest of the highly fancied players have underwhelmed?? To me i think Durdin would be a super selection at pick 7, had an injury interrupted start to the year and played the championships unfit coming back from injury after being touted as the #1 at the start of the year, he played the last few games in the seniors for West Adelaide before dominating the u/18 finals series named BOG in the Grand Final and prelim finals. People say he is a project player, yet he has been playing against men in the seniors for West Adelaide, is 197cm and looks the answer to our long term KPP stocks...

Keen to see where Viojo-Rainbow goes in November.
Reckon a club might pull the trigger on him early.

I reckon a lot of this years Top 20 kids are pretty B-Grade.

The ones to me that seem A-Grade quality are:

Petracca
McCartin
LaVerde
Brayshaw

then

Pickett
Durdin
Moore
Wright

have A-Grade potential

A realistic draft/trade batch of:

LaVerde
Jaksch
Jones

will do me very nicely.

Didn't/don't particularly want Mitchell, Higgins or anyone else.

HBF, how do you rate LaVerde as he is a realistic chance of being there at 6/7?

for me. I would love to get a couple of picks in the teens and early 20s - 30s. maybe pick 26 +player (robbo?) for gws pick 20 and 23. Also trade garlett and our 3rd (pick 43) for WC pick 30.

Sam Durdin
Jake Lever

Tyler Keitel
Liam Duggan
Peter Bampton
Lachie Weller
Connor Blakely
Touk Miller
Corey Ellis
Kyle Langford
Connor Menadue
Jordan De Goey
Reece McKenzie
Jayden Laverde

Hugh Goddard
Caleb Marchbank

I would love any of these boys in the navy blue next year. the more early picks. the better.

i agree and he is my choice for pick 7.

A strong marking sticky hands KPP who is very athletic sounds amazing to me ala Carlisle

I'll start off by saying that I didn't see alot of U18 footy post the champs, so I can only go by what I have seen.
He'd be line ball IMO if he's there around 6/7.

Would largely depend if "the top 5" go how most people thought they'd go earlier in the year.
I dare say we'll know more after draft camp in a couple of weeks time.

There's no guarantee pick 3 is going to be better than 7. I think Lever could be really good for us.

Petracca is likely to go 3-5... GWS wants him. I think St Kilda will take McCartin with 1.
Brayshaw will go with 2.
Collingwood might end up with 4 given Bris is going to get Beams.

I think its plain what we need. We need someone who can be a general at FB/CHB. We haven't had a gun defender since SOS. AA quality KPP defenders win premierships. I'm not saying Jamo/Rowe aren't servicable, but we need class down there.

We also need a gun forward and another premium mid. I'd rather back our recruiters to get gun mids out of the 20s and out. They're in every draft we just need to find them. The fyfe's; dayne beams; parker etc....

If we net Jaksch and can play him forward we will be in good shape.

From what I'm hearing I'd like us to get Lever if possible. However we will get a good kid with 6 or 7 so I'm happy with that.
