Mega Thread 2014 Drafts complete

We haven't drafted a ready-to-go player capable of 18-22 games in their first season with a top end pick since the 2009 draft.

I want to see Petracca buck that trend.

Not that surprising tbh - went KPF in 2010, Clark in 2011, and running mids in 2012 and 2013. Typically only inside mids are going to play that many games in their rookie season.

Stanley is gone to Geelong. Surely St Kilda either take McCartin at #1 or trade to GWS/WB for 4 + 6/7? If they do trade hopefully it's to the Bulldogs so Petracca slides.

Stanley being traded isn't going to mean St Kilda are drafting tall.

You don't draft for needs with your first round pick, you take the best available player.

Hopefully it means we have a 2010 esque season, where the future looks bright and we play some decent footy. Just if everything that follows could be different that'd be great.

Mahoney hinted like we would go 2 mids if Petracca not taken at 1 which is obviously to be expected but sounded like it would be more likely mid/tall (ie Petracca at 1) so McCartin, Wright, Lever...

I still think Melbourne's mind set for the draft is Petracca > McCartin > Brayshaw and we take the two available.
