Another unknown that we might chase is Will Hoskin-Elliott. Lightning quick and i watched a GWS game where he kicked 5, and was looking fantastic. Seems to be on the outer a bit at GWS too.

Another player who's hardly seen any game time is Jonathon O'Rourke. Was taken with pick 2 in the 2012 draft. Seems to on the outer at the Giants.

I not sure what the situation is with Jack Trengove, but I wouldn't mind having a look. He has been completely Melbourned (he has actually regressed), but he was an elite junior and is now running around in the 2s. I would back our development team to turn him into the player that he was supposed to be though.

Not sure what it would take to get him across, but if we got in his ear we could force Melbourne into a trade.

Very ordinary player. Extremely slow but on top of that he is a below-average stoppage player. Plods around looking like he hates life. 100% not interested.

I think we are now right for outside speed now with Hill, Rioli, Smith and Hartung....time for an up and coming 20-22yo inside mid for the long term...possibly with a bit of breakaway speed (see Dangerfield).

WHE seems to get played as a forward a fair bit for GWS. I'm not sure how he would go as an inside midfielder, but he could certainly help facilitate more midfield time for Rough, Breust, Cyril, etc.

We have had plenty of plodders running around for Hawthorn in recent years and it hasn't hurt. With regard to the rest of his game, he wasn't like that as a junior. As I said his development has gone backwards at Melbourne, because Melbourne has to ability to turn even O'Merea into an ordinary player.

I would back our development and coaching staff to get the skilful ball winning machine that he was supposed to be. He fits the age bracket of a 22 year old player, and with some time in the 2s to develop he could be a very good player.

He has just lost all confidence at Melbourne. In his first year, he was set to be a star of the competition. I think the captaincy at such a young age really affected him. A change of scenery, especially to a club like Hawthorn could do a world of good.

Like previously mentioned, hawks love an underated sort of player, a player that fits a need and has an ability to step up on that area. For me its Dylan Shiel from GWS, i don't know contract status but this kid is a gem but likely to be underated as he is surrounded by high draft picks which carry so much value due to a number as well as a interupted start to the season he might not reach max this year.

For me it comes down to the hawks chasing two 400k type players rather than one 800k. Better for Pay structure, culture and better for modern footy, with the need for deep mids.
Problem is he's not underrated, and he's contracted.

Jake Carlisle. Join us son and you will never have to play forward again.
I don't rate him that highly. Don't think he has the agility to be a top defender. Solid defender yes. Useful on Hawkins, probably. Just something about the way he moves which makes me think of lisle.

This time last year Carlisle would have been a Yes, he been a sooky la la this year, having said that Bomber has outsmarted himself by trying to move him forward.
Frawley is more likely to be at the Hawks, but at our price structure.

Interesting to what happens with the likes of Mundy,Gibbs, Fyfe and Dangerfield in the next few years.

Just one player that hasn't been previously mentioned who I would like us to get:

Dan Hannebery: 181cm 24/2/91 Will be 24 next year with 6 years top footy left in him....Also the Swans will be under salary cap pressure with Buddy & Kurt's wage bill increasing next year & thereafter....Also, they have lost their Cola, so they'll be ripe for the picking!

Contracted until 2016 so they would hold the cards.

Would prefer Beams.. Danger is zero chance of coming to Hawthorn, his first preference would be Geelong anyway but as a future captain of Adelaide I highly doubt he'd be coming to Hawthorn.

Beams is another story, he is one of their top 3 players now, has given wind burn to Sidebottom and Swan as far as development and is being underpaid. With Swan signing a new contract and Collingwood moving heaven and earth for Taylor Adams and Jesse White there's a very real possibility they won't be able to offer him what he's worth. HFC come in!! We have cash, we are in a premiership window and Beams would slot straight onto the pivot, perfect match.

Fanciful stuff. I rate Beams a better player than Danger.

Kid is a gun. No chance pies will let him go.

INSIDE mid please pretty please, not another flanker outside run player!
We have frickin bountiful numbers of those.

Absolutely fanciful however it's not about whether the pies want to lose him more so does Beams want to $550-$600 or $700-$750 a season? We are in a position to offer that sort of money, unlikely as we rarely throw our eggs in one basket and offer that cash to "outsiders" ..

Gibbs is within our possibilities and would be a great fit, almost perfect replacement for Burger ( although he doesn't look like slowing down).

Hallahan looks the goods as that young inside mid, throw in Shiels/Lewis and Langford, if we added a Gibbs to the scene that'd be nice :)

John Ralph, what a douche.
"Hawthorn has told player managers they want a ready-made midfielder, but I'd prefer to fuel speculation over the Frawley signing".

This morning, regarding Garlett he said that "I'd be staggered if a pick 38 didn't play in his first year". Been watching footy long, Ralphy?

It is a no brainer that Jon Ralph is a no brainer.

I actually think Smith could develop into a Dangerfield type midfielder (not saying he'll be as good though). He's shown he has the pace and outside ability, but has also had time in the middle and has the body to become a solid inside mid, who can burst from packs.

Hoskin-Elliott would be a handy pick-up. Haven't seen enough of O'Rourke, has he been injured??

If it is up to Collingwood he won't go anywhere. Hes a gun. But Beams is part of a group of Collingwood players who have not seen eye to eye with Buckley and the cultural change he has brought to Collingwood. Johnson, Thomas, Wellingham, Didak and Shaw are gone. Only Swan and Beams remain. The question is whether things have improved in the last 12 months and with the departure of those other guys. If not Beams could be a target for many clubs and I'd hope we'd be right in that mix.

Clearly a gun midfielder and a key defender are our two priorities.

My god we overrate potential recruits on this board...
I don't think he was saying Gibbs is as good as burgoyne, just that he could play the same roles. You can't replace champions but you do need to find a collection of players that can produce the same output and Gibbs would help us deliver a lot of what Burgoyne offers in terms of positions he can play etc.

Umm... We've got a 'No D***heads Policy' so he's not going to fit our culture ;)
