Any opportunity I can get to use this pic...

Would prefer Beams.. Danger is zero chance of coming to Hawthorn, his first preference would be Geelong anyway but as a future captain of Adelaide I highly doubt he'd be coming to Hawthorn.

Beams is another story, he is one of their top 3 players now, has given wind burn to Sidebottom and Swan as far as development and is being underpaid. With Swan signing a new contract and Collingwood moving heaven and earth for Taylor Adams and Jesse White there's a very real possibility they won't be able to offer him what he's worth. HFC come in!! We have cash, we are in a premiership window and Beams would slot straight onto the pivot, perfect match.

Collingwood are in the top three for hardest clubs to deal with. Can you imagine what they would ask for?

Collingwood are on a very tight salary cap with Pendlebury, Swan, Ball, Cloke, Beams, Reid and more recently acquiring Taylor Adams. They will struggle to fit all those players and a few others in their team.

I would love to see us go after Beams and someone like Ben Reid. I know there's been some talk about us chasing Frawley, but I think Reid would actually be a better fit for our team given he can play forward/back all to good effect. These are the type of players you need going forward.

Hawthorn are in the habit of targeting players for trade who we rate more highly than other clubs do. Dangerfield is a high profile superstar. The asking price for a trade will not be achievable for us. Other clubs could easily outbid us. Our best bets are free agents or acquiring players we rate who haven't reached their potential. I think Port Adelaide did brilliant well with Polec. We should be looking at GWS and Gold Coast kids as trades and mature guys like Mundy and Frawley as free agents.

I want to stay away from Mundy, I can see him being a more expensive Cam Bruce! Frawley I'd take but feel he's overrated, would like anyone that is a developing kp and 22-26 yr old mid hence Beams. We will get a few good players this coming off season, I'll put the faith in the footy club.

Gibbo and Lake support this, but on the other hand, Hawthorn wasn't the only one looking to trade for Burgoyne and Gunston (from memory) when they wanted out of Port and Adelaide respectively.

Like previously mentioned, hawks love an underated sort of player, a player that fits a need and has an ability to step up on that area. For me its Dylan Shiel from GWS, i don't know contract status but this kid is a gem but likely to be underated as he is surrounded by high draft picks which carry so much value due to a number as well as a interupted start to the season he might not reach max this year.

For me it comes down to the hawks chasing two 400k type players rather than one 800k. Better for Pay structure, culture and better for modern footy, with the need for deep mids.

Hawthorn FC see the above!!

There are many players from GWS and Gold Coast we can target, also a few good kids at Freo and one I would like to look hard at is Tom Sheridan who seems like h's struggling to fit in Ross Lyons game style. This kid would be perfect for us, is inside and outside with nice skills and is a Victorian kid, a terrific size as well, I'd love him at the Hawks.

But unlike the A's we actually win.

A's have been division champions three years in a row. With Texas and the Angels spending money like drunken sailors in port, that's a terrific result in and of itself. It's just so happened that the A's have run into the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the playoffs and Verlander is an unbelievable pitching talent.

So its like winning the minor premiership but not winning the Flag.

Loser talk:thumbsu:

This isn't related to free agency, but it is about off season recruits.
What do you think about the club going after and getting Michael Voss if he is interested as a assistant coach or get him involved in the club somehow, he will have had a year out of the game to recover from the fallout from the lions, he would be a great acquisition to our coaching staff, he fits our profile with his hard uncompromising style of football and is one of the all time greats. I feel he would bring a lot to any club if they could get him involved with his experience and professionalism.
We have shown with Brett Ratten that just because a club sacks one of their all time greats, doesn't mean they aren't a good coach and if vossy wants to get another head coaching job, a season of 2 at a big club like hawthorn would be a good step to getting back into it....

Given our history of picking up underrated/lesser like players.....surely we would chase Jon O'Rourke from GWS. Pick 2(?) but just can't get a run with so many kids ahead of him at GWS. I think that would be a better target. Skilled you mid with 10+ years ahead of him, at a lower price than 800k a season.

I not sure what the situation is with Jack Trengove, but I wouldn't mind having a look. He has been completely Melbourned (he has actually regressed), but he was an elite junior and is now running around in the 2s. I would back our development team to turn him into the player that he was supposed to be though.

Not sure what it would take to get him across, but if we got in his ear we could force Melbourne into a trade.
