I'd probably personally rather Curnow/Collins or Curnow/Gresham but would be happy with Tucker at 19*.

Weitering - future CHB and start defender
Curnow - roaming CHF and part-time bullocking midfielder.
Collins - future FB and #2 to Weitering. Think JW will bring out best in him as he's done so far.
Tucker - outside mid with speed, efficiency and a balanced game. Also has leadership credentials.

I'm still line-ball as to whether Collins or McKay would be the better pick - but I'd 100% take Curnow regardless. Whilst I can see Crows taking Milera/McKay first, it's probably not the time to risk a guy who's probably top 5 on talent/potential.

Very surprised Ah Chee and Rioli might feature top 15...

I very much doubt we would draft Collins before Mckay, whom the latter would seem to have much more upside especially when we have already drafted Weitering, really depends how it falls, but still think Burton is a huge chance at 11 or 19 if still there, fantastic mindset to succeed & huge upside if his body is fine.

According to my sources, here's the latest on how the draft will pan out and who we'll most likely end up with:

1. Weitering - KPD - no surprises here.
8. Schache - KPF - big slider as people are put off by 200cm+ KPF's, preferring the Stringer type 190 - 194cm forwards at the moment
11. Parish - Mid - Burton, Hibberd, Milera etc., all bolting.
19. Oliver - Mid - won't go as high as expected as recruiters wary that he's just "trending" at the moment.
59. SOS
60. Hisham Kerbatieh - Sm. Fwd/Mid - About where he's expected to go.

Now excuse me, I must be off you have my straps tightened and for my next round of Electro Shock Therapy.

how realiable are your sources..are we talking carltons recruiting team?

Also, If we select Curnow with pick 10, I really think that justifies SOS's decision to trade picks 20 and 21 for pick 10.

As bad as this year was (and probably the next couple will be) think it is better to be doing what we are doing than being stuck in middlesville.

Go Blues!!!! I'm pumped!!!

Agree with this. We hold on to so many players who could make it, who should make it, who tease with form and then regress, who will probably never see us really challenging. We may as well take the risk of going further backwards because we really have nowhere to fall to from here, and if it comes off, it's a masterstroke.

Really can't see a side with Cripps and Weitering staying in the cellar too long.

I dont want a bar of Collins before #19 - would prefer McKay but more preferably a gun mid

I think his sources are lsd, mushrooms and a squishee made entirely of syrup....

* his final line gives it away as a joke post.

Curnow as a lead up forward entices, McKay will take years to get up to speed (his disposal numbers are low, and he relies on height not leap) but he could be a big win. I like Tucker and would be happy to get him at 19 (or whatever this pick is after academy selections)

Ideal scenario is that Weideman and Curnow slide giving them to us on a silver platter.
Yeah I was hoping that we could get Weideman and Curnow but all these phantom drafters seem be saying that the Demons are all over Weideman without a hint of McKay.

These guys call everyone from school teachers to parents to opposing clubs to the players themselves to see which clubs are checking references etc. they have very good mail. McKay is more high risk, high reward no doubt but we need to take some risks for key forwards because if we sit around waiting for risk free players we won't end up with any key forwards (KPP are always more risky which is a big part of why Weitering is such a no-brainer)

This is what I'm thinking and according to Cal Twomey's phantom it's possible:

1. Weitering

8. Curnow

11. Burton

19. Tucker/Mathieson
We gave up a fair bit to get 4 picks in the first round, I doubt we would be taking too many risks with the first three. For this reason I don't think we'd take Burton, with his suspect knee cartilage issues, when there would be other quality players at pick 11 to choose from.

id be very happy with that

my only question would be if tucker and bonner were both available at 19 would be take bonner? elite kick and what bolton would want

ah chee at 7 is a big call but it helps us
That's exactly what I was thinking. However Tucker also had very good skills and also leadership qualities. I think we will be placing a big emphasis on leadership potential this draft. I really love Bonner though. Will be interesting

Never happy with undersized key position players, bring on the tall timber please !!! :D
You should not take players just because they are tall.......remember our draft picks the year we took Watson and the other talls.......CRAP!!! Take them because they look like being good players, not because they are just tall. Two McKays are double the risk, so mix it up a bit SOS !!!

Also, If we select Curnow with pick 10, I really think that justifies SOS's decision to trade picks 20 and 21 for pick 10
Given this would have been on the cards, I would have liked the Menzel trade to have included a late swap of pick 11 and 9 provided we secured it. Likely makes no difference to them anyway but means we're not needing to second guess our picks based on who is more likely to get past them.

1. Weitering (A Given)
8. Oliver ( I have a suspicion that Weideman and McKay will be gone by this pick. )
11. Collins ( Yes I agree it is a little early, but will set up or backline for the next decade)
19. One of Gresham, Hibberd, Clarke

I don't want the likes of Mathieson, his disposal by hand and foot are extremely poor and lack penetration when under pressure. Even when there is time to clear a pack, by hand, he continues to slam it on his boot.[/QUOTE]

Now that it looks like Oliver may go earlier, this is what I would like us to do:

1. Weitering (A Given)
8. McKay ( I have a suspicion that Weideman and Oliver will be gone by this pick. )
11. Collins ( Yes I agree it is a little early, but will set up or backline for the next decade)
19. One of Dunkley (replacement for Oliver)Gresham, Hibberd, Clarke, Tucker, Cunningham

Take the talls this year, easier to improve a midfield in a 2 or 3 year period

Our first pick has meaning...

Any of our picks after that is a raffle...

Saw some numbers today, it's really a very ordinary draft, I mean ordinary!

Pick 8, Curnow would be a steal, he has 'big body mid' written all ove him. Francis, if he got through, wow just wow, he is the '1' that could be the 'Fyfe' of this draft...

I will get excited this time next year...!
