2015 Draft, Trades and Free Agency rumours.

No he's not, he's only 23 (turning 24 in October) and as such doesn't become eligible for free agency for another 2 years.
I think the AFL needs to make a rule of something like top 4 sides can only bring in FA-eligible players if they are trading for them (and I mean fairly) this ensures they aren't gaining further advantage on the rest competition by bringing in guns and losing nothing. Or if they bring in FA they forfeit their draft pick in a given round or something?
Either way I think this would negate clubs like Sydney (I'm sorry Swans fans but Tippett and Buddy in consecutive years?) and Hawthorn, etc. staying on top of the ladder by pinching other clubs guns and not giving up anything besides cap space for them.

If Adelaide fans are keen to get scharenberg, I reckon fair deal is direct swap for Lever. Both first round, both knee injury history. Deal probably favours Crows TBH.

Good luck with that one, Lever would be UNTOUCHABLE. Crows first rounder is plenty for Scharenberg if he decides to leave.

Haha, no it doesn't.

Agree but it forces a team to up the offer. Kind of like how beams scored you a decent trade instead of a single draft pick.

Hampton's value will be decided by how many clubs want him, how many of those clubs he wants to go to and how much they are willing to give up for him.

The thing the contract gives you is ability to keep him if you don't get a good deal, but then again why would you keep a disgruntled player who isn't best 22?
In our situation we would have been willing to keep Beams because he was best 22 and up there with our top 5 players.

Seriously Lever is not in the same ball park as Scharenberg! What are you on?

One is playing right now and one hasn't played in 2 years after having a foot issue then an ACL. Lever is untouchable, there is a reason he went first round last season

You've got to be kidding. Prior to his injury in his draft year, Lever was widely rated top 5 if not top 3 by most recruiters. Adelaide laughed all the way to the bank when they got him where they did.

Scharenberg is a good talent no doubt, but he hasn't played a senior game yet. I'm confident he'll be a good player, but Lever is worth the same as Scharenberg comfortably.

He was best 22, could easily be again. Most clubs back themselves in to change players' minds if they don't get a decent deal for a contracted player - Mitch Brown, ROK, Gorringe, etc.

So a guy who is out of contract and hasn't played due to injury since being drafted two years ago. And a guy who was only drafted last year, still has a year to run on his current contract and has impressed since making his debut. How is that in anyway a fair trade for Adelaide?
