Or go for the jugular and get Selwood?

Long term it will probably be better if you take Buddy.
Will finish as one of the top forward IMO so you may as well get him now.
If you downgrade to get Selwood, then your wasting the potential of one of your rookies, you will still be at least a couple of weeks away from maxing out.
May as well wait on Selwood, he will probably go back up 20-30K, but you could make 100K extra from your rookies by waiting.

Goodes (to a cheap rook) or Newnes (to Roberton) would be the other trade..... so not missing out on much.....
If I got a player under $572000, Id only do a single trade.
If I got Joelwood, Id need to drop Goodes (to a cheap rook) or Newnes (to Roberton) .... this would be the other trade.

I would probably hold out on Newnes, barring his DE he is looking a lot better this year.
Goodes though needs to go, seems to be hanging on by a thread and Beveridge isn't showing much to indicate he will get a good run anytime soon. Andrews and Kelly are your best downgrade targets, but you would need them to be named this week, and it still presents a risk, but so does keeping Goodes.

Yes.
He doesn't get the credit he deserves, but is in the same category now as JPK, Pendles, Selwood, etc.
Has increased his average every single year, and is super consistent. Only dipped below the ton 3 times last year. Selwood went under 6 times FWIW.
The problem for Sloane last year was, whilst he was super consistent he rarely came out with any huge scores, and only topped 130 4 times last year, where as Selwood, being my example, topped 130 9 times.
This year Sloane has already topped 130 3 times, so one could argue the case that his inability to dominate alot of games is a thing of the past.
Add consistency which he has proven over the years and his new found ability to dominate games, he is a lock for me.

I would trade Goodes to get Selwood.
But I would also wait until Sunday, if Goodes is named to start on the field and isn't the sub, you could hold him and hope he gets close to his BE and avoids a huge price drop, and then pick up Harris or Kelly will a little more confidence next week.
Just wait and see what happens on Sunday, WB, Geelong, Adelaide and Brisbane all playing on Sunday so you will have a chance to see you the subs are.
Andrews over Kelly for me, but given they have only played 1 game each, im not overly confident.
