Good luck getting Lecras to accept the trade away. Particularly if he's still playing good footy. WA born and bred. The only way we could get him to leave was if he couldn't get a longer contract and needed a fresh start ala Lynchy
Freo?

Taking a required player out of our forward line just means we have to recruit a new forward as well as recruit for the midfield, which is our current weakness.

Any player is tradable for the right price, I just think a late first rounder for LeCras is unders. Would need a player and a pick.

Talls in McGovern, Darling & Kennedy not enough? Don't forget a resting ruckman.

Again, LeCras will be 29 this year. Trading him for a first-rounder is hardly a 'desperate gamble'.

I would definitely trade LeCras for a pick in the high 10's to low 20's... but what teams do you think would offer that for a medium forward with perhaps 3 years left on the outside? It'd have to be someone who's challenging now - Freo is the only team who I think would have a significant need met with LeCras. Am I missing any others?

I think that covers it.

Hawthorn might say they already have Breust, so no thanks. But Hawks aside, he'd add something to any team currently challenging.

Delist
Waters reason retired
Hill reason too lazy
McIness reason not showing enough potential
Main reason never thought we needed another tall forward disappointed that we got him
Ellis reason he would have to play 10-20 games
Butler reason injuries have caught up with him
Upgrade
Newman reason hasn't been in trouble recently and shows a lot of potential
Powell reason showed a lot in the NAB cup game against the all stars
Trade
Coniglio for 1st rounder
Tom Mitchell for 2nd rounder
Brandon Matera for ??? reason heard there was some speculation between him and Eade
Draft
if we do not do any trades we should draft
1st rounder Ah Chee
2nd too early too tell
3rd Jordan Matera
4th round too early too tell

Sure. That's the hard part.

My point is that he'd be tradeable for the right price.

So what?

Or a crack at winning a flag?

Hard to see him getting one at WC.
I disagree mate, our spine is very strong(when injury free) add some mids and development through some of the kids Duggan sheed lamb nelson newman etc we'll be around the mark. Both sydney and hawthorn have won premierships with lists with a lot of recycled players I would target tom mitchel,Kane mitchel,Chris yarran Brandon matera think all would strengthen our team and complement the youth coming through and are realistic gets interested to hear people's thoughts

Overpaying.
Conigilio

24 disps (12 kicks 12 hballs), 8 marks, 10 tackles and a goal in Rd 3 21-pt loss to Sydney at the SCG (18 Apr 2015)

26 disps (14 kicks 12 hballs), 5 marks, 8 tackles and 2 goals in Rd 2 45-pt win over Melbourne at StarTrack Oval (11 Apr 2015)
Ranked 6th in Total Tackles
A RECORD-breaking 64-disposal, four-goal effort in the NEAFL has Sydney Swans midfielder Tom Mitchell

What do you mean by 'add some mids'?

Are you basically saying we could challenge next year?
No I'm not, I'm saying adding mature midfielders that are lacking opportunity at clubs with deep midfields along with development in the youth we would be around the mark and challenging then lecras might end up with a flag before his time is up I wouldn't trade him

Which mature midfielders are you talking about?

I'm not criticising you for your optimism but I personally don't see it turning around that quickly.

Coniglio can kick, handball, mark(which not many mids can do) and kick goals
Tom Mitchell is a small crumbing forward/Mid something that we lack

The ones I named in my first post players like tom mitchel,Kane mitchel would add to the midfield, port Adelaide were on their knees a couple years ago and are now challenging think if we can address our midfield issues it can be turned around reasonably quickly

I certainly agree with your reasoning for this suggestion but it seems so unlikely to me that it's almost not worth discussing. Lecca has become a bit of a 'favourite son' over the years and on top of that is very marketable, it would be very out of character for us.

I'm not sure Tom Mitchell and Kane Mitchell would really do the job, would they?

I don't think our midfield issues can be addressed with mere tinkering. Either one of the guys already there really goes to the next level or we're going to need a pretty major transfusion of new talent.

I actually don't really want Mitchell, I think he is a bit more of the same. Not worth paying overs for.

Ffs let's get a like breaker or some speed on the outside.

Look at the way St Kilda and Dal Santo parted company.

It became clear that the Saints weren't going to be challenging so they basically parted amicably because it wouldn't have been fair to deny Dal Santo further opportunities by shackling him to a side nowhere near challenging.

We're not as far gone as the Saints were at that point but it just shows how pieces of the puzzle can move around.
