Pick 5 and 24 for Weller freeman Carlisle and a late pick to help with rice. McCarthy to Freo and 23 24 25 to the Giants from us along with something from.Freo. VERY EARLY CONVERSATIONS but they are taking place

I would totally do that more than Carlisle and Freeman for 5. Both are risky in a way. Weller gives us something extra in that he's injury free and we have a body of work to judge him on. Freeman should be a separate transaction.

Yes and No. This deal has been brought about purely from the last 24 hours. When he brought it up there was no chance. The intention was to keep pick 5 when he mentioned it and at that point we couldn't get a deal done. We have been speaking to Lachie for a long time

This is what I will never understand about players being traded, particularly those leaving on bad terms. If he's fully bought in then surely he should want us to add a gun with pick 5 and be saying to Essendon:

"You have two choices, take pick 24 + some scraps or get nothing and I'll go PSD."

It would go to the last day and then, just like Ryder, Essendon would decide something is better than nothing and take it. It totally baffles me.

As someone who got a bit emotional and may have rubbished his character a little bit....well a lot. I have completely warmed to him. He's looking a bit like the new G Train, a little bit of a different unit, we like those down at the Saints. He's already endearing himself to us.

Is Weller a realistic chance or just us asking the question? A couple of early 2nds could help Freo if they reckon they're still a shot with McCarthy. Shame they traded their 2nd in the Bennell deal, 24+25 for Weller+35 and then 35+extras for Freeman would've been ace. Carlisle/Freeman/Weller/Pick 23/Rice would've been a ripper of a trade period.

Hopefully Mav is in his ear, they're on holiday together at the moment.

I would be surprised if Weller didn't end up with us or at least in Melbourne but if we could do a deal when they need the picks it would help

I think they rate him pretty highly and see him as part of their rebuild without bottoming plans

We lack terrific skill by foot and elite speed. Lachie has elite speed and terrific skill by foot. It's a match made in heaven. Worth noting that he averaged 20 disposals a game at WAFL level, I think his ability to find the ball is A OK.

True. That being said, he's a Collingwood 6-footer at 181cm.

I'm not saying I'm anti-Lachie, I'm just not cooking up a geyser in my shorts about it.

Kelly is slight, Hartung is slight and about 5 cm shorter, kelly 2cm taller. He is a bit taller than he looks, I think he's about 182 the same as Mav who isn't too small. Mav was a pretty skinny kid when he started now he's more bicep than man.

Kelly is slight, Hartung is slight and about 5 cm shorter, kelly 2cm taller. He is a bit taller than he looks, I think he's about 182 the same as Mav who isn't too small. Mav was a pretty skinny kid when he started now he's more bicep than man.

I don't think Mav was ever skinny... But yeah, I see the positives, I'm just a bit beige about it.
