Carlisle has the club imposed suspension right? Great chance for a Delaney or a Lee or a Goddard to cement a spot or two before he's back.

Freeman would have to be the most likely. I don't see this year's draftees coming along as quickly as the past 2 years, but then again, I didn't see Lonie or Sinclair coming along as fast this time last year.

League imposed suspension of 2 games

Freeman would be a great sub in round 1 if fit

How good was it when Bazza was just a youngun, just the 3rd prong of the mighty Saints trident with Loewe and Everitt. 1997 was my first year of going to games, what a time to be there! The last half of the H&A season then that finals series! Bazza was just awesome, such a bruiser, great mark, fine kick. I was more unhappy about him leaving than Spider but he played some great games for us.
Heater was just ok that year too. Will always remember him kicking 16 on Norf across two games.

Don't discount Rice. That boot of his is a weapon, and he's got a man-sized rig already.

Only reason I didn't say Rice is because we're really well stacked in the backline and there will be some fair competition for spots and I wouldn't expect a first year HBF to leapfrog most of our medium backs, it would be great to see though, perhaps some room will open up if Sav/Webster move up to the wing.

Heater was awesome, such a deadeye. Shame he couldn't develop the rest of his game, he was Mr Consistent in front of the sticks and pioneered the use of goalkicking gloves when Cloke et al were still in nappies. I know he went into VFL coaching for a while, not sure how he went or what he's up to now.

Which of the new boys (apart from Carlisle) is a chance to play round one? (sorry to talk footy..)
Not Carlisle, he has a two match suspension to serve.

EDIT: And also on this edition of the late news the Saints are marching back to Moorabin.

He coached Wantirna South for a couple years. I think he left there in 2011. Not sure after that..

Coached Northcote Park to an NFL flag in 2012, won NFL and Australian Football Coaches Association Northern Region Coach Of The Year awards while he was there, and is now an assistant at Heidelberg.

Just OK!? He kicked 7 straight (out of our 15 goals) in the prelim and 73 goals (from just 20 games) for the season! Was a big part of the reason we made the grannie that year.

Had some real goalkicking threats that year, in him, Loewe, Everitt, Hall, Winmar, Smith (until injured), Jones and Lappin.

Looking back at it, we were probably just too young that year to win it. Had Hall, Brown, Jones and Cripps who were all just 20yo and Lappin and Hudghton who were just 21. You probably wouldn't get near a GF with that many at 21yo or under these days.

We were fine, needed one of them to emulate past heroes and bury some Crows into the fence though. Cop a suspension for the greater good.

No need, just needed Schneider to wear his other pair of footy boots :(

And Mini, never will forget McQualter 45m out having a fresh air swing on a ball and watching as it rebounded out to the centre square.

Wasn't the only one having fresh air swings, but my god did I wish he fell on his arse for good measure.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread - it has been a truly remarkable feat.

46,661 posts 382 days equates to 122 posts per day. That's from over 6,000 views per day. And that includes the long off season of 2014/15. At one stage we were tracking close to (if not over) 1000 posts per day.

This thread accounts for exactly 10% (literally 10.06%) of all posts in the Saints board. Which is pretty crazy when you think about it. Including every other thread that's been posted in this year, 2015 has been far and away the most active year in BF history for the Saints board.

I'd love to put a 'best of' section here, but I'm currently unwilling to scan through 1867 pages :p Tis a shame we can't search by 'most liked'.

Anyway, mods have agreed it's time to call it a day and move on, see you all in the 2016 thread
