No chance IMO

I was more commenting on the value of Murds. He would still be worth around where he was originally drafted (pick 40).

Let's get real for a sec.

Eg.
Dunstan and 6 for 12 and 13
6 and 26 for 12 and 13

(Of course the above Dunstan trade won't happen)

The Dunstan trade wont happen because you value him at pick 26. Not much reality in that is there?

I like the draft points system but your suggestion shows why it isn't a full proof system as 26 and Murds does not equate to pick 10.

The Dunstan trade won't happen because we won't trade him. I would personally put a draft pick value of 15-20 on him not 26 but we don't have a pick around 15-20 therefore if we want Adel's picks and are willing to move on Dunstan then Adel marginally win that trade.

Might sound strange but if we'd gifted games to Spence he'd be worth a pick in the mid teens on his own.

The fact we haven't played him has effectively downgraded a pick 18 to nowheresville.

I'm sorry but your wrong, even if we gifted him games his output and effort would have been very low. Would have never been worth a pick in the mid teens. Sadly his potential was never fulfilled here at the Saints. :'( Had high hopes for him

I'll agree to disagree.
Lost his Dad very young. Some serious confidence building needed. Amazing how quick things can turn for an individual when someone or a number of people believe in them and encourage.
We'll let him go for nought and likely someone else will do that and reap the benefit.

Let's get real for a sec.

Minch is OOC and a fringe small forward. He's worth absolutely nothing.

Ross is contracted and is developing into an average full time midfielder without much versatility to his game. Pick 30-40 in a shallow draft at best.

Saunders is contracted but I refer to Minch's value as a comparison. Worth absolutely zilch.

Murdoch is also contracted and has a couple of nice attributes that may appeal to teams however he's a flanker that hasn't developed into a midfielder. Pick 40-50 at best. An upgrade from our 2nd to pick 10? LOL

If we want to create an extra first rounder then we need to either part with a consistent best 22 player that isn't closing in on retirement as a starting point OR pick 6 and something else for 2 x late first rounders.

Eg.
Dunstan and 6 for 12 and 13
6 and 26 for 12 and 13

Pretty harsh comments there. For all we know Adelaide's comp pick is pick 16 and the above mentioned would certainly add depth to their list. There are also financial considerations in any deals, so we may be able to make a deal look more attractive than face value.
There's also the possibility that we get involved in multiple trades of picks from other clubs plus future picks of ours, so I think we all need to consider these new rules when presenting any possible scenarios.

He gave up when McCartin and Membrey were drafted to the club, plus had some off field issues of his own doing that set him back a long way.
From my understanding he has requested a trade, will be interesting to see what happens with him.

A hell of a lot would need to change in Spencer's life for him to even play solid VFL footy. It takes so much more than natural athletic talent to make the grade. I hope he makes it if that is what he wants.

And then Bruce became a forward. The guy couldn't catch a break. I hope he has a successful career at another club. Pretty sure his time is up with us.

Yeah, I get all that Brian but he captures the imagination with a flash of brilliance.
If ever I've seen a player whos value goes ip on hype it would be him.

You guys know him a lot closer than me but I think its a real shame to see natural talent wasted.

I've been saying since easter he will request a trade, at the time freo was the destination.

I highly doubt that. He'd still have to get a kick, and if he can't do that in the VFL twos, what makes you think he could do that at AFL level? He was pick 25 3 years ago and shown close to nothing, how could he get us a mid teens pick. Would gifting him a few games make him worth more than Rhys Stanley who most think we got overs for with pick 21?

It's the Vibe of the thing!

Yeah definitely, don't disagree with you in that he is low on confidence.

So do you think those around the club are discouraging him and shaming him?

I'm sure the staff, the coach, and all the boys are encouraging him every day to do his best. I think St Kilda is a very good environment for him. He was just never able to fulfill his potential... :'(

Nah, not saying that at all AuntieBarrels
The club is well setup.
I just think a lot of his problem is above the shoulders and a pshychologist and a life coach outside of footy might have been able to do more to help him.

No knock on the club, just my opinion.

Wow 700k per season for a guy that has injury problems and is pretty damn consistent? Risky decision from Port... He's obviously a very good player on his best day, but usually goes big one week, then the next one he's really quiet.

Makes me feel even more assured (130% assurance) that we picked Paddy with pick 1..

The price of key forwards these days is inflating like crazy.

They currently have pick 10 I'd say they use that.

For a 25 year old KPF that has never kicked more than 40 goals in a season... well he will probably get there this year. He also has a couple of stuffed ankles doesn't he?

If GC get pick 10 they are making out like bandits.

This would also send Schulz off to the Fremantle Dad's Army yes?
