While I don't think we will go and get him, I wouldn't be totally against Stevie J taking a spot on the list for a year or two.

Think he will end up at the Tiges though. Walk up start to fill the spot left by Chris Newman.

Just did. Glorious. Just flipping glorious. And the scary thing is that he didn't just kick those three goals to finish with four for the match - he missed two other pretty easy opportunities! AND he was instrumental in about four other scores.

You don't trade that.

Love that long bomb from 50. Just changes a game those type of goals from nothing.

Delisting him now would make little sense, especially if Simpkin is delisted as expected. It would leave us very thin for depth in the key defensive positions (Delaney and that's about it).

Unless we add a best 22 KPD this off season....
Goddard is best 22 KPD for next 12 years, we need one more KPD and a third tall back in Fisher/Gibson/Lever mould. Add in Webster, Savage, Roberton and it's a nice back line. Another small lock down defender would be nice but good ones are very hard to find.

I can't see us getting a lot for Ray and Lee, but anything is better than nothing. We'd probably just have to let Ray walk as a DFA but we might be able to get a half decent pick upgrade for Lee?
If these players cannot get a game with us and want to leave, and someone is willing pick them up, then why not, we may get something in return, look at past drafts, there maybe a smokey.

Someone will get Steven Johnson for his 35 goals next season but you won't be getting any leadership from him. He's been a great footballer but it's well known that Johnson is not too interested in anything apart from himself. He would be nothing like Schneids was this year.
I'd be happy to keep a contracted Tom Lee but he's very keen to look elsewhere, Dempster, Fisher going on again and seriously looking at Carlisle will mean we would ship him off in any team made a decent offer. He's a ripping bloke Tom, can't really blame him for exploring ways to play senior AFL footy and save his career.
Farren Ray has been offered a one year deal but he wants two. He's been made aware that youngsters like McKenzie, Sinclair, Acres, Webster will all be given opportunity before him. If he gets an offer from another team he's happy with he may be moved on as well.
Expect some decisions from opposition players to be made from next week that could affect us. We either trade in very good player/s or go to the Draft with another high pick and let Trout work his magic. Our list has some holes but I'm expecting most of those to be filled over next 14 months. Exciting times ahead.

Just on what Ghost said

IF we sign Carlisle, we are well on the way. All of a sudden we have dynamic talls at both ends of the ground and Carlisle,Goddard and even Bruce we can move around depending on need to change a game. I wouldn't listen to anyone who says we arnt a front runner for him. We would be at the front of any pack.

Expect any deal we do to be a multi club deal. lee wants out and we will get a third rounder but that pick will be valuable to say the Giants along with another of ours.

Serious chat around how we act on or move pick 6. Very keen to say do a Melbourne and get two picks if we feel like 2 of our top 5 would be available at those picks.

Also off topic, expect a pre season and a half for our list. Alot of them will start to resemble men next year. Should have a look at billings at the moment. Also paddy starting to take shape. Will expect him to play most weeks next year and roo to play wing\high half forward.

Interesting.

Lee leaves and we get around pick 47 for him. Package 42,47,60 (857 points) for GWS pick 27 (703 points). Could add in our 4th next year if they have a pick around 20. If Carlisle nominated us and they took that pick we would have turned Lee, a 3rd round and two 4th round picks into Carlisle.

Or use one of the 2nd rounders and our first to trade down into 2 first rounders. So you turn 6, Lee, a 3rd round and two 4th round picks into roughly 10 and 15. Go into the draft with 10, 15, 24 or something like that.

Exactly plenty of options on the table. Just need dominoes to fall and a few of them in our favour.

I think people overestimate how much trading up later picks for a better pick are worth....

Best example I could find was Collingwood trading picks 41 & 47 for pick 38 back in 2012...

People thinking we could trade 2 third rounders in the 40s for a pick in the 20s are kidding themselves, unless it's for teams with academies that requires extra points etc

If we trade out Lee or/and Ray, I would use them to gain a second round pick be adding our 3rd round pick to the player. Add our 4th round pick to the other player to gain a 3rd round pick etc. We could end up with 30 and 48 instead of 44 and 62.

Are you referring to my post? Cause that's exactly what I was suggesting.
