Carlton is surely the least likely club in the whole comp to bid on Rice. Carlton is the only club he's specifically said 'no' to.

The worry was they would bid early to spite us and force us into the negative.

No need to worry about that now.

If we don't get the points it eats into our 2016 first rounder which would = poor option.

We must have something else up our sleeve.

They will take all the senior talent they can get.

For all the people talking about them losing the 'Go Home 5' and James Aish, they have brought in Christensen, Beams, Robinson, Walker, Jansen, Bell and Bastinac.

Draft Schache at pick 2, get Rockliff and Hanley fully fit and they start looking decent IMO.
Don't forget they'll also get their academy selections at a significantly discounted rate, so their list will potentially be a lot stronger next year.
If someone could let me know what Brisbane are doing getting rid of picks 17 and 26 for a plodder, 38, 40 and a future third, that'd be great.
They are being very smart with their pick positioning. If they can use later picks to get their academy selections and higher picks to trade for immediate best 22 types, then they are maximizing the value of all their picks. In this draft late picks are worth SFA to clubs that don't have an academy or F/S selection, but they are worth a fair bit more to clubs who do, who only need their relative points value.

Can any team have an academy, and weren't we setting up that or an excellence centre or something?

@traderadio: NOT HAPPENING: Cam McCarthy will be playing at the GWS Giants next year - Colin Young (manager)
