Gorringe would be the option if Martin, West and Smith go boom.

At that point in our season I wouldn't mind a player that causes fights, because the seasons already dead if we've gotten that many injuries. At least home games would turn into "fight nights with Gorringe".

Maybe Lambert can fix his attitude, worth a punt I reckon.

Terrible idea. His attitude on the field is atrocious. Always looks to start a feud with opponents rather than focusing on his own performance.

I imagine him getting fired may give him the push to change his attitude. Worth the free hit he would be.

He's had two big signs that he's not as good as he might think he is recently: Port passing over him when Ryder became available and now Suns de-listing him. You'd think that would be a big sign that it's now or never if he wants a career in AFL and he's going to have to work to show people he's as good as he seemingly thinks he is.

We have a gap in ruckmen after Stef and West, both towards the tail end of their career, and Archie, young and raw and still a far way away from a certain thing, so getting a 23 year old ruckman for free would probably be a decent move listwise. Having said that with Smith and Dixon leaving the Suns only have Nicholls as a number one and Wright as back up, right? Would have thought they would be more willing to keep him if they still saw potential to live up to his draft expectations. Haven't seen much of him over the years, I'd be surprised if he had played more than 20 games. Never really all that impressed from what I saw but ruckman do take time.

If he's open to staying in QLD, worth a shot for free, I guess.

From what a suns supporting mate told me he and the suns relationship was done and they were content to get rid of him but he's lost all currency.

didn't he demand to be traded to SA because he hated being away ?
Not quite. It seemed that he requested a trade as Port had convinced him to come and then when Ryder came on the scene Power killed their interested. Kind of got left high and dry.

Lloyd Perris delisted, was rated in his draft year a prospect as good as Tom Mitchell/Heeny, but was a rookie via the NSW Scholarship program, given he's had a couple of knee reconstructions and is also competing in a very stacked midfield he's fallen out, but from what I saw was quite talented

Assuming we need another mature ruck, I think people need to get used to the idea that the players we might get are going to have a "spud" reputation. We are likely to be talking about the last place on our rookie list. It is hardly the place to be expecting to fill with a budding superstar. We're talking guys like Cameron Wood, Tom Derickx - these guys are like having access to a bike just in case your car breaks down. They'll do a job but it won't be anything like what you get from your first string.

I'd take Gorringe as I believe he can be more than just a Wood. He has some upside at least...

Big fan of getting Gorringe but didn't he have a little whinge when he couldn't get back home? More homesick factors.

Maybe he will straighten up knowing this is his last chance?

That's a bit sad. From what I recall there were other teams, particularly Melbourne, who were keen to draft him on the senior list, but under the rules at the time the Swans were able to put him straight on the rookie list, which he agreed to because he wanted to play for Sydney.

You'd have to think that a team that had invested a senior list spot in him would be less likely to cut him.

This on top of Kavanagh being delisted after his Dad scared away rival clubs. Young players are so much better off at the club that values them the most highly, rather than the team they really want to play for.

The harsh reality is that lots of players aren't going to make it at the top level. It does always seem much more surprising when a top draft pick or highly regarded junior player just doesn't make it or his potential isn't developed. Kavanagh is a good example. Probably continues to show that drafting is, even at the best of times, as much an art as a science.

Perris and Gorringe both have some upside, and potential to be duds also. Worth a punt as a rookie spots, as that's where such gambles can safely be made...

I see a bit of Mitch Thorp in Gorringe. High draft pick who thought getting first 22 opportunities was just going to happen. This delisting would have been a reality check - we might get a more humble rookie version. Interested in picking him up if he is committed to turning this around.

With Gabba's pitch (gulp) and make shift 2nd rucks in our line up, this may be his best chance.
