I don't think we really need any more mature agers apart from maybe a ruckman as depth preferably on the rookie list.

Matt McDonough, formally Richmond, expected to train with the Lions into the lead up to the PSD.

Interesting. Did very well at VFL level, but seemed lost when he had his chances at AFL level. Played as an inside midfielder for Richmond's VFL team. Not sure I'd take him based on my limited sightings of him, especially given the type of player we've traded in.

I think he's more a forward/half back than a midfielder.

Let me guess; he's a poor kick.

Yes, was mentioned earlier somewhere that we were super keen on him... Leppa obviously rates him.

I had this bad feeling in my stomach that Grant was going to get picked up through the PSD... as soon as he was deslisted by the Dogs we delisted ZOB and moved Paine to the Rookie squad.

Is the club looking into getting grimley or was that just a rumour.

P.S is it pronounced grim-lee or grime-lee.

Choco described him as one of the most pure footballers at the club. Didn't do great when getting a chance at AFL level, supposedly has some fitness issues. Could be a good player if he gets the opportunities.

Very good when he played inside mid for the VFL team. Got 15 clearances in a game once.

Wondering if the club may be interested in Warnock for a rookie spot as insurance.

I would. He's a textbook C- type but would be good cover.

Aren't we looking into Grimley for that?

Will be interesting to see whether we use spots the 39th and 40th spots on our senior list now. I suspect we'll take a 4th player in the national draft at least. But if Williams/Chol don't attract bids we'd just pre-select them before the rookie draft as academy selections. Perhaps we might want to keep an extra senior list spot open for next years "super-draft"?

Players to be drafted:
Senior List Spots: 3-5
Catergory A Rookie Spots: 1-3
Category B Rookie Spots: 0-1

Yeah but I'd say that Warnock is a much better and more proven AFL ruck than Grimley
I agree. Suspect Warmock could probably however get few better offers than playing as the 17th best team's 3rd ruck on the rookie list.

He did just get cut by the 18th team ;)

And I remember reading he was gone mid season from Carlton - this was back on 11th June - "The future of Carlton ruckman Robbie Warnock remains in limbo with the tap specialist set to face a major pay cut if he remains with the Blues. Warnock, who had season-ending surgery on his injured shoulder on Wednesday, is off contract and faces an uncertain future"

Majak definitely has more 'upside' in terms of his athletic attributes but has to this point shown less than Warnock at AFL level. I do admit he has had some pretty stiff competition from Goldstein and Petrie. However, other than the Bulldogs game, and a few nice performances in the VFL, he has had a fair amount of time (6 years in the AFL system?) to translate upside into performance. I guess he might be one of those guys that you need to give 10-15 straight games to in the ones and endure the mistakes to see if he can get used to the higher level.

You know what you are going to get with Warnock though- someone that will touch the ball about 8-10 times and get 30+ hitouts. Warnock's 2011 and 2014 seasons are statistically pretty solid. He would be ideal security if something were to happen to Martin or West.
Having said that I wouldn't be adverse to getting Daw, just that as security I would prefer Warnock if both were available.
