But who'd get the ball to them??
Would there be any $ left over?

But yes it does look ridiculously good.

I think the club is putting a lot of faith in JOR/Jedi/Langers/Billy which is great, I rate them all.. Just hope they all come on like we wish

To get Bennell I think our first rounder this year plus a second rounder next year would get it done. His stocks are low and because of the issues he has the club would be happy to just offload him and not try and play hardball.

Wingard, Breust, Rioli and Pop can all/should play mid. TBH i wouldnt mind the hawks drafting a few young small-med fwds that can be groomed to push these blokes further up the ground.

Or at least start transitioning these guys + Birchall, Duryea etc into the midfield even more than they are now.

We all tend to agree that we need some readymade superstar mid-20s guns to take over from Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne so I see two ways to do it:

- Bring them in from outside the club at a high cost: Danger | Bennell | JOM etc

- Use our already developing young mids/hb/hf (Jed, Litherland, Sicily, JOR etc) and play them to push our B22 established A grade talent into the middle.

Play a Litherland along the HB line and release a Birchall into the guts.

Push Jed up forward and move Breust into an even greater MF role.

I see a strong team being able to redistribute 40-50 Breust goals, and carry a Birchalls def load more than try and match kids up in the midfield. Seems like less of a gap.

Breust may not be the next Dangerfield, or he might. Birchall might be the same, or at the very least be another Lewis-type etc

I really don't get the Wingard rumour.
Love the player, but can't see why we'd throw the bank at him??
The danger and carlisle tumours make much more sense to me.

I agree, doesn't make sense to me..not like we have an immediate need for that type of player. Throwing 1 mil at him doesn't sound like Hawthorn either.
That aside, it's one thing to satisfy the player contractually, but how would we even get that deal done with port?

On a side note, Barrett has us heavily into Bennell apparently.

Cheers for the info brother!! Where'd you hear it from? More than welcome to add to the discussion
I'm good mates with the father of a current Power player & the player told his father that Chad was offered that from Hawthorn.... This player is very close with Chad & therefor I thought it has real substance hence why I shared it.... Seriously I'm not 1 to go around other clubs forums & chuck up rumors for fun as it only makes me look like a tosser!

Believe me I hope it's not true as you guys (on your day) are basically unbeatable....

we wont pay anyone a million a year and jeopardise our salary cap and player payments. The only player who we thought was worth that now plays for the swans

Fundamentally I'm not sure I have an issue with paying top players big bucks. Salary cap will increase significantly, 1 mill a year won't eat in so badly.

yep but look at it from the other players perspective at the club who are not being paid anyway near that. Franklin was afforded that as he was already part of the fabric of the club and everyone at the club knew what he could do and had done for this club. No one would have begruded him the money. You don't want to tear at the fabric of your club by paying someone a lot more than everyone else including some of the great players at our club currently

Not trolling at all mate, don't believe in that sh*t, but I'm glad u put it out there....

There I said it!! ;)

No problem in saying it at all. As unlikely as I think it is, the thought of the Chad warming the pine at Box Hill is a delicious one.

One good thing about Hawthorn is, is that we change with the times and exploit things.

Mid 2000s we traded for draft picks when they were underrated and then late in that decade we traded picks for players when they were overrated.

We have done extremely well to convince players to fit into the "pay structure".

I think with free agency and extra dollars with the TV deal we need to be prepared to change again and show people the money. It's going to be the norm soon if it isn't already.

Treloar and Dangerfield will follow Buddy's lead for mega bucks and long term deals.

It's free agency and the more people sign these deals it'll expand and happen more frequently.

Hawthorn need to be prepared to break the pay structure to bring in the big guns

Hey guys, sorry for jumping in on your thread but thought this info be handy if it hasn't already been mentioned?

It has come to my attention that the Hawks have made a massive play for Chad Wingard, as of this week you's have offered him $4m over 4yrs....

Imagine a backline trying to control both Cyril & Chad?? As an Essendon supporter even I would enjoy watching those 2 class acts in the same team, same forward line.... :thumbsu::)

Did the players dad have any info on whether or not Chad was interested in the move?
