A "big fish" looks very unlikely this year, IMHO. Terry Wallace said we would but the club said we couldn't and I know who I trust more!

If we land O'Meara next year I will be stoked!

Hawks did ok out of the 2013 draft
24 Billy Hartung Good get (almost in our best 22)
38 Dayle Garlett miss but worth the risk considering we were going to draft Sicily with this pick
56 James Sicily looking good
59 John Ceglar (when Hale retires will be constantly in our best 22)
71 Will Langford (In our best 22)

Rookie draft
17 Dallas Willsmore (may make it, promoted to senior list in 2014)
33 Derick Wanganeen (played a couple of games, delisted miss)
48 Zac Webster (promoted to senior list probably will be delisted)
57 Ben Ross (played 4 games in 2014 then delisted)
61 Kurt Heatherley ( Gibbo's replacement being promoted to senior list
65 Shem-Kalvin Tatupu (He is coming along nicely may play some game next year)

From what I can see the 2013 draft looks mighty fine to me
My thoughts exactly - if we can pull off a similar coup in this years "weak" draft we will be ok :)

Ceglar and Langford were already at the club. They were promoted from the rookie list. Kurt, Shem and Ross were not part of the under 18 talent pool. Derick Wanganeen was also on the rookie list for the second time. Despite all that I think we did really well getting Hartung and Sicily with our picks as there is barely a player worth talking about in their region of the drat we could have taken instead. Will wait and see on Wilsmore (not sure of his AFL position) and Webster (injury prone and not a great kick).

Here are the players who were picked below Billy who have made useful contributions to their clubs taken after Billy who were not rookie elevations

picks 25 Mcstay, 26 Merrett, 28 Taylor (2014Raising Star),35 Pearce, 40 Kenedy-Haris, 42 Kolodjasnij, 47 Brown, 50 Gordon , 51 Holman, 60 Honeychurch, 65 Langdon, 66 Lloyd, 77 Marsh

It worries me..potentially adding another 33 year old to the list whilst taking another kids spot that needs game time.
Not the answer.

Yeah I get that. Happy for him to take Simpkin's spot as I reckon he will ask to be traded. Would be good insurance if a Mitchell/Hodge/Burgoyne suddenly dropped off the cliff next season though and would not cost the earth. One last crack at a flag for him who knows?

So let me get this straight, his close friend overheard him say this thing, then ran to an illegitimate AFL news feed.

If he is so close to Stevie J why didn't he just ask him?

I think Stevie J is an absolute flog - but I wouldn't have a tantrum if we signed him. I honestly don't see why we would though - I don't see any kind of need that he would fill. That and those Facebook sites get it wrong more than Damian Barrett.

Imagine cheering the hero Stevie J home as he puts another nail in the Geelong coffin.

Dew-esque

Except for the "Stevee Jay" stuff, I hate that.

I'll be saying "Go Johnson" or "Go No 53", etc.

I did note that I would have preferred McStay to Hartung. I rate Brown also. Will wait and see on the rest.

Id probably only take Merrett, Brown, Kolo and Langdon out of that lot and we pretty much could have if Garlett was so enticing!

One of my lot? I can't vouch for the 1000 other essendon bf posters.... I'm only telling you what I had heard today!! Whether or not it was known the hawks where talking to him in previous weeks, I know that it had become news to his team mates as of this week of that offer! As I said I was only bringing up some trade discussion (as that's what this thread is about) but I'll be quite happy to see myself out if your not happy with me being here!!

Relax, mate, I'm only saying that we've heard this rumour already, but it's yet to be substantiated by anyone from hawthorn or PA, it always seems to be from Essendon or Adelaide supporters for some reason.
