Sure is. We traded him for a "pass" in the national draft and a half eaten pie apparently.
We made out like bandits in that deal.
About that pie........it might be 3 quarters eaten now.

Trade Luke Breust?
I'll say this again: "we are retiring a number of over-30 players fairly soon, and people want to trade our good young players?"

And as for Rosa, a West Coast supporter I know always calls him "TurnRosa" as in turnover Rosa.

So, it's NO from me.
And it's a NO from me.
And it's NO from me!
And a definite NO from me also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys sound like the judges off x-factor. But I agree Rosa is a NO

cats absolutely killing this draft...hendo for 1st round pick. next year...has any team drafted 3 best and fairest winners in one draft....they surely have to be the favourites for the flag, along with west coast and freo and us. All our opponents seem to be improving their list, maybe our success has finally caught up, where we've ran out of war chest until our champions retire. If we win next year, surely we have to be the greatest ever team by a country mile. Will be very tough. Injuries will play a big part.
You can only have 22 play the game and 18 on the field at any one time. Then you need those 22 to gel and play for one another and know each other. Geelong has made wholesale changes which will take time to turn into wins and only one of them is noteworthy for me and that is Dangerfield. The rest have not proven themselves in any big way, best and fairest or not.

I bet an allstar AFL team would struggle against a well drilled team that plays for one another. I think Hawthorn are way ahead for that very reason. Two things will dictate if anyone is going to knock off Hawthorn from the top; Hawthorn's hunger next year and injuries. If they play with motivations like they did after the qualifying final and can avoid injuries no team will get close to Hawthorn in 2016. As for Geelong, they are taking some huge risks and sometimes those pay off and other times they leave you gutted. Let's see which category they will fall into come September next year.

I'll tell you what is sad, I saw that Simkin won the B+F at Box Hill. Played his heart out all year, always among the best with 30 or so possessions and now seems to be cast aside like an old rag. He is only about 27 and so has some positive years left, and of course won a flag medal in the VFL one week and a AFL medal a week later in the G/F there in 2013. If anyone has had a bad trot for working hard it's him I reckon!

Sad?!

Wonder what Nick Reiwoldt would think of this post.... There are a truckload of AFL players better than Simpkin who will never get to win a flag. The guy is an honest trier but no star, yet he is also a premiership player.

Give me a spell.

We need a back up ruckman and that's it. I wanna see which one of these players take their chances next year onwards. I'm thinking that they will all have their chances at different times. No need for speculative spuds from other clubs.
Hartung
Langford
O'Rourke
Howe
Sicily
Miles
Litherland
Ceglar

TOB and Heatherly would be bonuses if they were to get games as well..then there's the Spangherman! I'm happy as is.

Disappointed that TOB hasn't really come on. HE might be one of our high pick failures...

im happy we're trading for picks and bringing in youth this year, 8/10 drafts are the same with about 40 decent players, 1/10 you might get a draft of only 20 or so decent players and 1/10 drafts you get 60 or so decent players, imo last year was a strong draft, maybe mediocre, but was called a weak draft for some reason? a lot of those kids are showing something, example Howe + Miles for us

IF we keep Anderson we'll have 3 picks inside the top 40, IF we trade Anderson we get 4 picks inside the top 40, i think we're in an ok position and welcome the youth, because once our core veterans retire we're gonna need new guys pushing for those core spots

P.S. i want us to keep Anderson, but if he has made his mind up, then its best we get a top 20 or so pick for him and move on, a bit like the O'Rourke situation but the other way around.....

Who was that Jones kid that kick 5 on debut for the Box Hill seniors a month or so before finals.
If I recall correctly he was 19 years old and about 195cm.

Doesn't seem to be mentioned on any of the phantom drafts.
What chance we take him with a later pick or rookie draft

Alot of people bang on about top ten draft picks - but Hodge Lewis and Roughead are the only top ten draft picks in this side

From memory (so don't hold me to it) Rioli was 12, Mitchell 32, Smith 18, Shiels mid 20's, Hill Mid 30's, Stratton Mid 40's, Puopolo and Duryea mid 60's, Schoenmakers late teens

seems our recruiting has been working fine despite our lack of high numbered picked through continuing success - I'd hazard a guess our recruiting staff don't work to draft numbers but have already sussed out who they want - what role they have to fill, have spoken to them and have worked out how they are going to get them long before trade week and draft day arrives.

sure it makes trade week not as much fun for us ...but we more than make up for it around finals time...

No matter how many "GREAT" players go to the cats, pies, or anywhere else for that matter, one thing remains the same - Hawthorn still have the best coach, by the length of the Flemington strait.

"GREAT" players going to the Cats?, i mean Dangerfield is quality, but "GREAT" is a little over the top and if you think that muppet Henderson or the "worst" Selwood are going to add anything to the Cats next year, then i think you might be mistaken

I think he needs an appropriate nickname. I'm thinking either Gummo (after the least known of the marx brothers) or alternatively we could start calling him Chris Daniher

There are a lot of quality delistings this year, if the draft is as bad as they say, why not pick up a Matthew Watson in the second round?
Because he's diabolical.

Hahaha needed a good laugh after today. Thanks

We've also traded in players that were originally top 10 picks eg Hale, McEvoy, O'Rourke. Shiels was recruited as a 17 yo and would have gone top 10 the following year, but I agree we definitely target need and value in the absence of topline draft picks.
