From all the news I don't really understand if Whitecross actually want to leave? Does the club actually want him to leave? He doesn't seem like the type of bloke that would ditch us.
I think it would be similar to the Suckling situation.

Does he play in our next flag at the expense of someone younger? Probably not, and so we look to offload him.

The way I read Wright's comments this week about him being on our list if there is a spot available, we are looking to move him on.

This Breust talk has got to stop.

He's not up for trade.

The discussion doesn't belong here.

I agree with you mate. I just spilt my coffee on the desk reading utter hogwash.

"Bruest didn't have a good year".

He kicked 52 goals you @@#$%^&*(.

Not bad for a small forward.

Who is this poster called "bluespooner"

Could you please card him Abasi, it would be greatly appreciated.

Now to get this stain of the trousers before the herd come in:eek::eek::eek:

n my opinion, though he has already peaked. The problem I have with Breust is that he isn't a natural footballer. Sees the football in the forward line and runs straight at it, at times you need to hold back and let the player running onto the ball who is heading towards the goals that opportunity. Look at the GF, Hawthorn's first goal in the third quarter kicked ultimately by Schoenmakers, Breust almost knocks Rioli over when before he centres that ball, he has little awareness about creating space in the forward line. As a forward he suffers from being robotic which is not a good thing as a small forward needs a big bag of tricks to beat their opponent.

No disrespect but....

Trade aderson to adelaide or west coast for there 2 second round picks then on trade those pick plus our own even throw in our 3rd to GWS for pick 8.

Picks 28=677 32=584 37=483 38=465 all up=2,209
Pick 8=1551

That will put GWS in a position to match a pick 2 or 3. They have to use there next pick moving back in the order till they reach enough points so pick 8 has to be used for points.

Go to the draft with 8,18,55 (rookie upgrade)

But our list will be one spot smaller...

Hooper is considered a top 3 prospect so they need the points to out bid GC.

I don't see why Breaust won't be pushing up more into the midfield as required next year. Has all the tools.

Played a great game in the middle on GF day. 2nd in contested possies to Mitch. Had a huge 1st quarter. The tap to Gunston was brilliant. Would have goaled from the free kick but Smith sniped it.

Very happy with our players being useful around the ground.

If we were losing mitchell this year and had no hope of flag, then as painful as the idea is, trading breust could be a talking point...
Not when you can realistically have another tilt.

Well I'm looking at the equivalent picks from the 2004 draft, which this has been compared to, and it clearly looks like a better deal if we picked up a couple of delistings instead.

remember how last year was called a weak draft? it ended up pretty strong, so yea, dont believe all the BS that gets thrown around, even Buckenara said there was at least 30 quality kids, then it becomes speculative, in my observations of previous drafts thats a normal draft strength.....

Not a mids butt crack for mine, far from saying that he can't play forward but suggestions that he is going to replace one of our prime mids gives me the giggles. Pinch hit by all means but he is best left to go outback exploring in the forward line with Gunston, our Boots and Dora combo.

Well you can always report me but I think it's a worthwhile conversation.

I don't think Breust had a great season. His first final against the eagles was woeful. Even worse and one thing I cannot stand seeing from a Hawthorn footballer is that he squibbed a contest. Admittedly, he redeemed himself in the later finals; I think it was 6 in the Adelaide final and even though I don't think he kicked a goal in the GF he did some useful things.

Breust is a seagull and gets a lot of goals from stoppages and from being fed by the accurate disposal into Hawthorn's forward line. I think it is a skillset that can be replaced. Trading Breust and possibly a third round draft pick in exchange for two top ten draft picks in the 2016 draft plus possibly a fringe player that GWS will let go, works well for both clubs. Hawthorn gets an opportunity of re-building their midfield and GWS gets a local premiership player they want and points towards picking up academy players.

One thing you can be sure of next season is that the opposition is going to adopt a lot more of Hardwick’s tactics to beat Hawthorn. They are not going to zone or allow the uncontested marks which cut up Adelaide, Fremantle and West Coast in the finals. They are going to go man on man a lot more which means the disposal into Hawthorn’s forward line will not be on a platter.

Hawthorn is going to require footballers that are able to beat their direct opponent. I don’t think a player that won’t back himself to mark the ball out in front and consistently tries to take it in his chest thus allowing his opponent a spoil opportunity cuts it under these changed circumstances i.e. watch the Fremantle and eagles finals. Anderson is a natural footballer, creative who I have no doubt would work beautifully in tandem with Rioli. Anderson can beat a direct opponent, blokes like O’Brien and Sicily can win contested marks.

If these blokes don’t get opportunities they will all look to move on for more opportunities. Trading Breust is the best way I can see for re-building, by getting access to the top end in a strong draft or possibly to make a play for an O’Meara when he comes out of contract at the end of next season.
My biggest fear if we trade out Breust is that we'll become the next exers! Franklin, Suckling, Breust, Kennedy, McGlynn might outscore the entire Carlton team next year.

1st Hill now Breust, Gee you get sensitive, I know you would suggest to discuss this stuff in the hypotheticals can you also give us a list of players that are not on your list of need a big warm hug?

Wasn't 2009 called a weak draft? There always will be a robbie gray somewhere in each draft.

I hoping we're shoring up picks to get into the top10 or top5 or something extravagant as that. I can only dream during this boredom

Mate I understand where you're coming from, if we were sitting around 12th-9th the last few years this could have some merit. End of 2001 should show no one is too good to be traded with the Trent Croad deal, a lot of these people saying Bruest shouldn't be traded would of said the same about Croad and how did that work out for Hawthorn? But we have just won three in a row and while I'm a little worried we are staying a little stagnant this trade period the team has the runs on the board and should be backed in next year.
