On talent is he not? Add something rather than mock a poster.. As a mod I expect better content from you. if you have superior knowledge then share it as others do.
Seriously? On talent? we got players like Rioli, Hodge, Roughead, Gunstan, Breust, Smith, Mitch etc. - on talent alone, they far outweigh that of Anderson's. He may have potential, but I don't ever seeing him becoming better than some of our players

So we look like going one man down in midfield depth. We are now looking at Hartung Orourke Langford Howe as the only real options to come in for the ageing dream team. Not quite the same pedigree it has to be said.

Some star young mids out of contract next year - O'Meara, Wines, Whitfield, Prestia... Let's pounce then.

Was North created just for us to win awesome trades?

Poor old North Melbourne, our brother, born together in 1925.

Forged together in adversity.

But for our brothers from Arden Street, something's just not quite right.

They truly are our unloved slightly f-cked up twin.

The key here is our versatility. We can very easily give more midfield time to the current best 22 players (even guys like Mitchell play there less than they could), and have the depth players play forward or back with a bit of midfield time. Besides, whenever Jed played for Hawthorn, he barely seemed to get any midfield time anyway, was usually up forward.

To be honest - when a player who was sporadically handy at best for Box Hill is declared to be our most talented player on the list of blokes who have just won 3 straight flags - the burden of proof is squarely on you.

I didn't say the most talented.. I'd say there would be only a handful more talented than Jed. I'm not saying he is better than any of our elite, I'm saying merely on talent.

Based on what you say David Hale has more talent than Jed? Give me a break. Talent takes you so far, it doesn't guarantee anything.

James Milner to the left, former Geordie

Is that James Milner?

I'd argue on talent alone Jed is the equal if not superior to a few mentioned in your post.. However as I said previously talent doesn't guarantee a thing and I'm happy to see the back of Jed.

Not sure the pedigree was all that much better with Jed on it...
Shown a little, proved nothing as yet.
I still think our midfield going forward will need targeted FA filling in the next 12-24 months.

Possibly, but we've also just confirmed that our cap is not full.

Can we CARD the next person that suggests trading Bruest
Lol. I would hate to see Breust leave the Hawks, just as it was bloody painful to watch Buddy go... Everyone is for sale at the right price! It's just a matter of who is willing to pay... Cough...north Melbourne...
Wishing Jed all the best! Would have liked to see him in brown & gold for another season.

Whitfield and O'Meara will top up our midfield nicely... :D

The thinking is great, the execution will be tough...
If we trade out of using this years 1st round pick in pursuit of Carlisle, we will be unable next year to trade out 16' and 17' 1st rounders for any elite young mids coming out of their first contracts.
More likely we'll have to go after some fringe mids who might develop more with us, eg Hrovat etc..
Either that, or everyone's seeming nightmare of trading an existing top talent ala Br..... cough cough will be needed to facilitate an incoming gun midfielder.

Would be interesting if we flipped it and instead used our negotiating position to trade out Jed, and then ontrade picks 15 and 18 to St Kilda (so they have their low first rounders) for pick 5. Saints can then see if they can broker a suitable arrangement with the Bombers for Carlisle.
