I just think if you're going to try to be a hero that you should at least get it right

Is every post on Bigfooty, that argues a point and backs it up with evidence, created because someone wants to be a hero?????????

Grow up FFS.

I just thought it was self-important to be honest. Plus you called multiple people out.

AND you called somone out for getting "here" and "hear" mixed up.
Plus is this necessary on a footy forum?

So do the Bulldogs since they're a tiny club based in an Australian Rules heartland 10 team state. Oh and last time i checked the Crows were still financial powerhouses (obviously the mediocre on-field results mean they aren't making as much green as they potentially could be), which is less than can be said for your team currently.
And when was it you last checked, 1999?

They should be financial powerhouses but aren't with the current football structure in South Australia.

2010: $1 million LOSS
2011: $500K LOSS
2012: Breakeven
2013: $2million LOSS
2014: Rumoured to be breakeven

And note that all of these don't include the $2 million worth of free rent and maintenance of their Football Park facilities they receive each year.

Of course the average Crow fan is completely oblivious to this as it is largely brushed over in SA, despite the fact that Adelaide are in the bottom half for off-field expenditure and revenue, and having rightful access to more of the money they bring in (as opposed to it being siphoned out by the SANFL) would allow them to compete on an even playing field with more-resourced clubs. So I don't blame you at all for having that impression, especially with the huge crowds and membership figures Adelaide get.

Club Revenue (2013)
Collingwood $75m
Hawthorn $64m
Essendon $63m
Carlton $57.1m
West Coasr $56m
Geelong $56m
Fremantle $46.6m
Richmond $44.8m
Brisbane $43.5m
Sydney $42.7m
Melbourne $39.4m
Port $39.1m
Adelaide $34.3m
Bulldogs $34m
North $32m
St Kilda $29.9m
GWS, GC N/A

Now they've got a CEO from outside the boys' club there seems to finally be recognition of this as is currently reflected in their united stand in the stadium deal renegotiation with Port, and so perhaps we'll see both SA sides begin to compete financially, as Fremantle and West Coast do under their mutually beneficial state football setup, and become "financial powerhouses" as their raw support figures suggest they should be.

edit: Carlton for the spoon.

Where did you get these figures?

Do we escape a lot of scrutiny though? Seems we've copped a lot for Griffen leaving, the Boyd contract, McCartney "resigning" and now Garlick resigning. . People are happy to label our culture bad though and ignore the fact a very similar saga is playing out at Adelaide. The main difference being is this is all happening for us as we try to rebuild, meanwhile Crows were a top four side is hampering them.

The Crows have their "financial powerhouse" status but at the same time we also made a profit last year while significantly increasing FD spending and having a fair outlay on setting up our own VFL side out of Whitten Oval. But I'll keep your point in mind for when they start handing out financial premierships.
Here in Victoria the dogs do get there fair share of criticism and scrutiny. Being a largely unsuccessful club only aids to hasten the media criticism.

Always have a soft spot for the doggies........

unless you beat us then you can GAGF;)

You're not getting Danger.
And how would you know exactly?

I know a lot of his childhood friends and family. It's Cats or Crows.

How Adelaide fare this year being a telling factor as he wasn't entirely happy with a change of coach and is uncertain as to the direction of the AFC.

Show serious signs of improvement he may remain a crow. Adelaide stagnate or regress and he's coming home.

Given he's engaged you feel this will be an important contract decision to make. It will decide where he wants to settle down and plan his post football life.

Which given his partner's family has firm roots in Geelong, not to mention his parents have business dealings with a company owned by Mr Frank Costa would suggest Geelong is definitely a viable option.

He's making a conclusion about Carlton midfield's quality based on what he believes are facts
And you are basing Kruezer's output based on stats completely irrelevant to the player he is now. Most notably he hasn't played an unhampered game since August 2013, he is a different beast now.

If they play Kruezer in the ruck this year you will be in for a shock

A little inaccurate. He effectively jumped from a premiership-winning VFL side to a team only two points above his own AFL side on the ladder.
Imagine that a player completely lost as to where he stands with his current football club gets offered a role as a focal point in a developing forward line and takes it.

He won't be a 3rd stringer he will be Waite's replacement at FF and if he stays fit for 22 weeks it will be a shock if he doesn't match Waite's output last season.

The best predictor of future performance is past performance, it's not 100%, but is a mighty useful guide.

Just start with 9 defenders and play rebound kick to kick and you can be the worst clearance side in the comp ala Geelong
Dry your eyes petal.

Once you come to terms with the fact we'll finish higher than you yet again you'll be better off.

9 defenders...... pffft we've never played liked that. Don't need to be good at clearances when playing a side like Carlton, they'll gleefully just give you the ball with their poor skills:)

Well at least that's a somewhat realistic target. Waite kicked 29 goals in 14 games so it's not unreasonable for Jones to kick 29 in 24 games. He'd have to dramatically improve his output, given his best season to date still falls comfortably short of that. And he now won't have guns like Cooney and Griffen delivering him the ball (not that he would have at the Dogs anymore anyway but that's beside the point).

This is why Carlton are in with a shot for the spoon. Simply no goalkicking firepower in attack.

Yes and no. Remember when you guys sucked only a few years ago? Now you are flag contenders. Your club is the perfect example of how things can turn for the better quickly.

except we literally had a ridiculous amount of talent but a mushroom of a coach and fitness director that could have been out performed by a potato..

I think Carlton have the worst list in the AFL (future wise), but I can't see them finishing last, probably bordering on bottom four.

Almost everything went wrong for them last year and they still finished out of the bottom four. I think that for next year they'll finish above St Kilda for sure, and probably above Melbourne and us.

In two or three years is when I see them really struggling, but they're just a meh, 6-8 wins side this year.

I'd love them to win the spoon, though.

Looking at the teams from the bottom in 2014, the Bulldogs look to have lost the most experience and their pickup's could take a few years to blossom. Bontempelli and MacRae will improve but the losses of Griffen, Cooney and Higgins will bite. With their draft starting at 26, a first year player stepping up seems unlikely.
With Jesse Hogan ready to start and Melbourne and St Kilda having high draft picks I'll select for my bottom three, starting at the bottom, Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, St Kilda.
I tip GWS for 4th from the bottom. Inevitably they have lost more high picks but Boyd was never going to be anything for them in 2015 and they have picked up some much needed experience in the midfield in Ryan Griffen.

I'd prefer a Tom Boyd stepping into the side than any player taken before pick 26 in the last draft anyway. He's only a second year player as well.

Plus we also have this guy looking like a sure thing for an early debut and we're very excited about him as a first year player:
