What is Duggan?

183cm and 75kg.

Thats three very similar midfielders three years straight.

I'd hope we would have learned that we need some variety in types by now.

The kid can play, his height and weight are irrelevant. Gov is a jelly donut who is an AA monster.

Luke Partington: 182cm, 75kg
Jordan Gallucci: 183cm, 75kg

Along with that, one of Partington's wraps is being particularly zippy and quick around stoppages, same as JG.

Both are seen as good all rounders with no standout tricks. In fact this was the only query on Partington's draft profile last year so surely you can see where I see the similarities?

Size dimensions isn't a huge indicator of similarity, I think alot of draftees or young players in the league would be 182cm and 75kg and they wouldn't all be similar players. Gaff would have been roughly those dimensions and he is nothing like Partington or Gallucci.

Zippy and quick around stoppages is a pretty vague description. Gallucci seems to have a bit more genuine pace to break the lines than Partington. I also think he has a bit more of a penetrating kick so that's my distinction between him and Parto who as you say is a bit more of an all rounder.

It's not a terrible comparison, I'm not trying to be a contrarian but I think it's important to distinguish the two because I think Gallucci is a better prospect with more potential. There are similar attributes, but lumping Gallucci with Partington and labelling them as vanilla does JG a disservice IMO.

From limited viewing of only the u/18 videos my main concern with Gallucci is his ball drop. It's almost McGinnity-esque. Don't rate his disposal one bit.

But I do like the fact his lower body is bigger than his upper body. Means he should turn into a nugget with low centre of gravity and powerful legs.

I like it when we are all on the same page.
However:
Jokes aside I will be disappointed if we don't take him with our first.
I get a feeling that it just one of those things that are meant to be, no logic to my thought ....... just a gut feeling.
I must be alone on this then. :)

Been explained many times that apart from the top 2 or 3 - the rest are quite even. I know a club who thinks Gallucci is top 10 material.
Remember its fast becoming a kicking game
Wasnt there a record number of handballs this year?

KM has written this about West Coast's list needs.

http://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/17958126/knightmares-afl-list-analysis-does-your-club-need

West Coast

List needs

1. Next generation midfield brigade - (with a view towards having a strong midfield group once Matt Priddis, 31 and Sam Mitchell, 34 retire)

2. Outside runners - (Andrew Gaff is one who runs all day and Lewis Jetta can push up the ground and provide meaningful drive, but on the big Domain Stadium, more outside running players would be beneficial to West Coast's midfield balance)

3. Crumbing small forward who can kick 30+ goals in a season and heap on the forward pressure - (this has been something West Coast have long lacked. Mark LeCras, 30 is an excellent forward but won't be around forever. To complement the club's key forwards a high-level crumbing forward would be an ideal list addition)

4. Young key forward - (with Josh Kennedy 29, it is time for West Coast to consider drafting a future franchise key forward to develop under Kennedy for a few years and eventually take over the reigns)

Draft picks: 12, 34, 54, 106, 124, 142

Who should they draft?

Father-son prospect Jake Waterman was nominated by West Coast and is likely to be chosen late in the national draft as a marking forward.

Todd Marshall at pick No. 12 as a key forward in this draft is the most obvious replacement with time and development for Josh Kennedy.

Daniel Venables and Sam Powell-Pepper would also make sense around pick 12 with their scope to improve as explosive midfielders. Sam Petrevski-Seton if he slides to 12 also would represent terrific value as an outside runner.

As small forwards, late draft or as rookies, Tyson Stengle, Kym LeBois, Sam Fowler, Dan Allsop, Kyle Kirby and Willie Rioli are some names who may be considered.

Pretty much on the money I reckon.

Reckon this is broadly on the money and props to KM for doing it - but seriously, people need to stop using the "makes sense on the expanses of Subiaco" analysis. We're moving grounds very, very soon.

The outside runners thing is not on the money though. He just hasn't realised we have guys like Mutimer, Duggan, Partington all playing in the 2s and probably doesn't even notice Masten (of course because no one really knows what his role is).

I guess we don't have another Gaff in the reserves but I'm not sure we need to draft another one for balance's sake.

We have plenty of drive, just no one to actually win the footy for them

He did absolutely smash a long standing vertical leap record......Surely that's a standout trick !!

Aren't the dimensions of the new ground very similar to Subi though? Don;t quote me on that though..

Nothing wrong with a VW but when you could get a Mercedes Benz for the same price you feel short shrift.
Sometimes you're best to take the VW... :p

Agree with all of that.

Should've traded Marsden and MacKenzie.
Masto is in his last year as a regular top 22 pick, the guy hasn't delivered on game day. He is the last of 5 that I mentioned years back under another pseudonym that we need to be replaced with better to be a real flag chance - Ebert, Koby, Selwood and Rosa.

Isn't Galluci's weakness his kicking?

Or maybe that is just Brett Anderson's view?
From what I gather he is Mitchell like in that he is good for short passes and also Mitchell like in that he doesnt have penetration . That being said Galluci had most metres gained during the carnival .
