Interested in Nick Larkey after his finals series as a forward ruck. Ran a pretty good beep for a player his size at the state combine too (13.8). Wonder if he could be a selection at 50...

Also Harrison Bult from the Western Jets as a rookie CHB would be nice. Moves really well for a player close to 200cm.

I reckon he'll last further than 50, Larkey. I'm not sure if we're in a position if we can take 4 guys in the National Draft, but I reckon he could slot in well at 75 or whenever that pick is. I'd love to see us take him so that we finally have a Trinity boy on our list.

Can we figure out who we each get to pick for in the phantom so I can start working out who they need? I'm hoping for Port, they'll be fun to pick for.
Someone else can run the thread & then I'll assign the teams, if some poor soul gets Hawthorn then they might get another team if we have enough spaces obviously or I'll just take Hawthorn.

His number one rule is that players must be able to win their own ball. I'll ask the question though.

That's questionable pann. No doubt he values it highly, but he still takes the odd player with questionable contested skills. Hamilton and Lynch are the two that immediately spring to mind. I think even Macrae had a slight concern on his contested ball skills, well at least according to McCartney.

His number one rule IMO is they must be of decent character.

Tom Williamson sounds like an interesting prospect. Has anyone seen him play? Plays with North Ballarat Rebels. 189cm half back / midfielder.

I saw him in the finals and he didn't have a lot of impact. He does have the ability to intercept the ball though and can take the game on. He can also be creative at times with his hands which is something we value. I'd imagine he holds some appeal to us later on in the draft.

Of course decent character is important, as I've said repeatedly, but the ability to win the ball is his most important trait in what he looks for.

He loved macrae because in his 18th year he won the ball every week and didn't have any bad games. There was very little difference between his good and bad games at all levels he played.

Using Lynch is a bit rich, he was a late rookie pick. JJ was a reach too who wasn't a contested ball winner but he picked him and Dahl because they had elite traits, which was speed.

I've heard Brendan McCartney speak at length about the drafting system when it was put in place in 2012. How it was explained was that character had about as much importance as playing ability and was scored close to 50/50.

I do find it hard to believe that a heap has changed since Brendan left (I can't see anything major), but I guess it would be interesting to hear if his drafting system has changed much since then. Has the character scoring been dialed down a notch for instance?

Surely disposal under pressure would have to be #2.

You can see that bevo has brought that, look at his first season he brings in McLean Webb dale Hamilton and Daniel, the next year suckling as a FA even Adams and Williams all very good kicks

Is Suckling able to kick under pressure though? I dont think he is much chop in that area.
Hamilton Im not sure about - havent seem him.
Daniel, definately! Its hes defining characteristic.

Does anyone else think Taranto at 4 (after academy) to Brisbane is gonna happen? I reckon he'll end up the best from this draft from the limited games I've seen.
