Noticed a lot of talk around the board regarding the trade value of certain players, who may explore their options under free agency and even who we should be looking to draft already. So I thought I would kick this thing off.

List of free agents;

List of Fremantle players' contract status (thanks Seppo);

List of uncontracted players (thanks eth-dog);

And for my personal opinion...

See what compo we would get for Mayne and Clarke. Would take a second rounder for Mayne and I am inclined to want to hold on to Clarke at all costs, but of course the choice is his.

Wouldn't trade Neale for anyone but a trade involving Hogan.

Clarke is shit but our other ruckman are Sandi who is 40 and coming off a severed spine or something, Griff who is 40 and moves about as well as my granddad & Hannath who moves even worse than Griff.

Unless we trade in a ruck, getting rid of Clarke is madness.

Mayne is one of our only mid-tall sized forwards. Pav will be gone, relying on Tabs as our only tall is mental, Yarran is unproven (should be good fingers crossed) and there isn't much left. Sure Crozier might come one and Bennell & Fyfe resting forward should kick a few, but, ditching Mayne and going in without Pav is just crazy talk.

A second round pick for Mayne or Clarke would be just fine. Short term we would have to scramble to cover but it makes sense to me.
We would struggle to off load either of them even if we tried to :(
In all seriousness, who would actually want them??....Why would any team lose a second round pick (with potential for getting a young gun) for 2 players who have shown little in the last couple of years??
Our trade bait stocks are somewhat limited.

As much as your love for Mayne , we need to create a new culture , I can see Walters , fyfe and Neale name but not Mayne , time to let kids develop no point clogging space.

Clubs are interested in Mayne and he will not struggle to be signed by another club if that's what he wants.
Yes , if you are his buddy , let him go for better thing. Our problem need at least one N a half year to solve.

If he goes and we don't land a plug and play forward, we are in a worse position than we are now.

Pav gone, Mayne gone, Balla a year older... relying on maybes (maybe Yarran makes it, maybe Crozier improves in a depleted forward line where he'll cop more attention, maybe Tabs or Apeness come on...).

Short term we will feel a lot of pain, but long term gain is more, if we create an age group of average under 24 player now , our reserve in peel play as a group and first team as well and anyone can get drop if they don't perform and go to second. Right now I can't see pav, Mayne type drop to second and play and create good culture for peel group also.

We wouldn't be trading Clarke, he is a FA.

I wouldn't be in a rush to trade Mayne, but if a half decent pick was up for grabs, so be it.

Therein lies the problem. Maybe we'll have more joy this year with a decent draft pick, but, we've tried for 10 years to land a forward to help Pav and failed.

Now fans are suggesting we will land a key forward, but cull Pav and Mayne leaving us in the same position. 1 key forward and the rest undersized leaving whoever we land double or tripple teamed and carrying the team on their own.

Might all come good and we land a couple or a current player comes good. I would be worried about limiting our options and cutting players from an area we are already struggling with though.

If your game plan never change yes , but you change game plan is better start a fresh.

I'd like to know what game plan doesn't require forwards and why we haven't used it during our obvious time of need over the last 10+ years?
Mayne keep playing in afl, and kids don't have chance to grow in that position.

What kids? Keeping in mind that if Pav and Chop go, you need 2 players to replace them and even Pav hasn't been able to do it on his own the majority of the time for the last few years.

Replace Pav with Yarran and Mayne with??? Crozier already in the side with both and we are still struggling. If Crozier is the replacement, who goes into his spot?

We don't have the depth in the forward line to drop these players.

Your defending of Mayne is getting ridiculous. Name me another quality "Forward" who has kicked 3 goals from 5 games? He's rubbish.
