We finish 10th/11th on the ladder and are forced to face the reigning premiers in round 1. Where's the reward for being mediocre. :p

Saturday
Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney, MCG
Gold Coast v Essendon, Metricon Stadium
Sydney Swans v Collingwood, ANZ Stadium
North Melbourne v Adelaide, Etihad Stadium

Sunday

What happened to the days of having the GF rematch round 1?

Also if we play Carlton at home then the game should be played at KP.

Id rather not meet hawks r1 if we serve up this seasons effort
I want the Squawks in round 1. I want to see them unfurl the flag in front of their cocky, smug, overbearing supporters. Then I want to see the smirks slapped off their collective faces as Hawk ragdolls Frawley in kicking seven and Danger get 35 possessions including four in his debut game. And I want to see Clarko going troppo, swearing and smashing walls as we give them a 50 point hiding to announce.....

I use to think like you but unfortunately we are no chance whatsoever of beating Hawthorn if we play them round 1 next year.
Clarkson has Scott's measure. Scott has no answer for when Hawthorn start to kick 2, 3 goals in quick succession. He sits back in his arm chair with a rather blunt look on his face and contemplates the moves he'll make for next weeks game instead.
Mitchell will rack up the usual 36 touches, Hodge will bully the younger blokes and get away with it. Rioli, who never once troubled us, will look a million bucks. Ceglar will look like a top 10 ruckman. Same old story

I'm just about over our round one on the Monday followed by a 6 day break regardless of who or where we play. And Richmond and Carlton to kick the season off again, well I can tell anyone who will listen, it doesn't do anything for me, it's an anti climatic nothing game and should be scrapped and replaced with the two GF sides from the previous season.
I kiss the ground you walk on. It's a complete disgrace that this game opens the year - every year - it's not traditional, it's just shit. They should open with Crows V Dogs or something exciting.

You can have your nightmare Bobby, I'll stick to my dream.

Some things didn't seem to worry them that year. Four games in 19 days, including matches against Hawthorn and North, plus a trip to Sydney. Strangely they won them all.

If you're good enough you don't need to look for excuses.
There are always a few teams who get a leg up- it'd be nice if we could get one now and then. Every finals game means more income. That always helps the bottom line.

Don't see the big deal about the fixture. You can't control it, and if the team is good enough you can overcome it.
At the end of day yes. Beat whomever is there.
It would be pleasant, for a change, that the events leading up to meeting those teams each week displayed some parity or even a reflection of the teams previous ladder position.

Go Catters

From a person I know who claims to have a very senior contact at the club

Going to get 8 home games and 6 sat night games and 2 Sunday 440 games. The extra home game will be Essendon

With that attitude we certainly are beaten. Jesus Christ they're good but we are improving and they have lost Lake and Hale. Their vets get another year older too. We have the team to beat them, just need the game plan.

The Sat night games are great, however, from a selfish perspective, my kids struggle so I'd prefer a few more day games.
Yeah I understand that... from my selfish current situation night games are perfect (but that will change going forward)

I guess they can't please everyone, I would have thought a 50/50 split of day and night works best.
