Don't like our chances. We're due to have Easter Monday as a home match. Definite MCG match.
Pies, Blues and Dons won't be in Geelong given how they could all fare in 2025.

Think it's more about putting in the ground work ahead of Tasmania coming into the league, because at that time Hawthorn & North will cease with their Tassie deals and that means should be easier to meet the minimum MCG game requirements with the Melbourne based clubs

Why cant easter monday be in geelong with our bigger stadium now?
Do you really see the AFL doing that? Easter Monday MCG is one of the few fixtures that draw high crowds regardless of ladder position.

I don't see why the Essendon game couldn't be in Geelong. Can't see them being a flag threat and our game against them (54k attendance) didn't draw anywhere near the numbers as the Carlton games (87k and 75k) or the Collingwood game (73k).

Amazing news

Sidenote, regarding attendance, I feel like the GMHBA attendance stats were pretty disappointing overall this year. Only one game over 33k after the upgrade? Seems underwhelming.
If you keep sending spuds down the highway, that's the end result.

Additionally, it's a league wide issue that "sellouts" average about 80% of capacity due to high levels of no shows for season tickets. Not sure how to fix the problem, but the AFL has the same issue with Essendon/Carlton at Marvel and the marquee games at the G.

Would be great if we could do this, but increase our away games at MCG by one.

We did our time with Darwin and Hobart last year.

Might sound greedy but Hawthorn used to (still do?) have their 'replacement' away/home game bullshit with their Launceston deal.

They wouldn't have this year because our home clash with them was at KP, but next year with us scheduled to be the "home" team for Easter Monday, I can see it being a replacement home match for them

I agree.

I'd like to see some bigger crowds there, a few big games
As has already been noted, bigger crowds would come with bigger opponents. Playing basically only interstate teams and Victorian minnows (in an attendance sense, at least) at the Cattery encourages neither our home fans nor interested but less fanatical away supporters to prioritise getting to the games.
