Swans get Franklin, 2 year trade ban.
Hawks land JOM & Vickery with dodgy trades, play on.
Integrity, transparency and accountability...look them up Fitz & Gill!

Here is a list i made last week of how bad the AFL has become:

* Didn't have the courage to suspend a whole club that was doping because they didn't want to upset the goose that lays golden eggs in terms of Essendon and the money they bring into the league and to the club. Do i have to remind everyone how the then boss of the AFL rang up one of Essendons major sponsors himself?

> "Back in 2013 when the scandal first surfaced, then AFL boss Andrew Demetriou took the step of phoning KIA to reassure the major sponsor about Essendon’s situation and the club has put an enormous premium on communicating with their sponsors"

* Have had chairman's who have also sat on the boards or were bosses of companies that had contractual agreements with the AFL. Spotless with Ron Evans and ANZ Stadium in Sydney with Mike Fitzpatrick.

* No courage to strip a convicted drug cheat of a medal bestowed to the "fairest and best player"

* Essendon fans still flocking to a club that instigated a doping program and wilfully handing over high amounts of money in both merchandise and memberships. Standbyhird

* Terrible drug policy where a player has 3 opportunities to get away with taking drugs

* Suspends a club for no reason because they signed one of the best players in the league in what is now becoming the norm (Tom Boyd going to bulldogs was hailed as courageous from the brave dogs, Sydney signing Lance Franklin was nothing more than cheating)

* COLA

* A fixture that accommodates the top Victorian teams. When was the last time the hawks had to travel to Geelong? Or how about Collingwood? Or Essendon? Here's an idea! How about getting all those teams to play away games on their home grounds? Brilliant! More money to rich clubs! Brilliant!

* Asks the biggest drawing clubs before they release the "fixture" who they want to play to maximise profits.

* Forcing sides from WA to travel to Brisbane one week and then Tassie the other week, while Collingwood etc have to travel a few kms for "away" games.

* A "national" comp that has only been won by 1 non vic side in the last decade. Funny enough the last time we saw a non victorian GF the media went into overdrive with crazy narratives about holding a summit into why there's no vic teams playing. Heres [Ron Barrassi having a whinge about it](http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/not-good-for-footy-barassi/story-e6frf33l-1111112224932). Hmm coincidence that its been all vic teams winning since then? The mind ponders.

* Grand Finals played at the homeground of top victorian teams, even when a team from the other side of the country finishes higher than a vic team. Tradition! The thing is, all GF is filled with 70% corporate people and only a small % of fans from each team competing.

* Introducing an artificial team at the expense of the whole league. Giving this team 3 years worth of talent. Manipulating the draft to accommodate said team. I really hope GWS clean up just to see the massive bitterness from you idiots

* A code that has shown this year its prepared to help the high drawing clubs by manipulating the draft for them. Hawks and Geelong anyone? No 2 year ban for them!

* A code that see's no reason to make its officials, full time, while sports betting is the main sponsor. Hmmm shady men in dressing rooms indeed.

* A code that is bending over backwards to appease sports betting.

* Racism is rife amongst the supporter group. As recently as this year supporters were still being evicted because of racism.

* Homophobia is the reason why not 1 single AFL player has come out unlike the NRL or other codes.

* The code is riddled with misogyny and even when a womans league is introduced this billion $ cashed up league cant even pay the woman a decent wage. Nothing but more tokenism.

* Woman have had to fight to be on football boards. On TV theres 2 woman on all football shows (none on the McGuire produced TV shows) and even then they are hated by the blokey blokes who watch this code. Compare that to the A-League and NRL where they have had woman in hosting duties for nearly half a decade. Even cricket now has woman involved.

* Only recently a bunch of blokes on radio joked and threatened to kill a female journalist. Thats right folks, kill. "Har har I'll keep holding her down Eddie..i'll do it!"

* Sam Newman

* Treats its indigenous in a token manner with a fancy dress up party once a year where white people tell indigenous how they should behave, which basically translates too "Entertain me with dazzling footy and keep ya indigenous issues outta my face".

* Literally racially boo’d one of the greatest players the code has ever seen into retirement and told him to never ever come back. The way Adam Goodes was treated by the Neanderthals AKA football supporters was the worst case of racism in sport I have ever seen in my life. I have followed a lot of codes and while there have moments in-game in these codes where fans have been pathetic, nothing pales in comparison to the racially motivated hate that forced him to retire. Disgusting.

And those issues are off the top of my head. I am sure if i spend more than the 5 mins i did thinking that up I can produce a 5 page document.

We need a Trump to come in and #DrainTheSwamp... the AFL is a woefully corrupt organisation.

No one needs a Trump, and we already have our own in AFL. Hi Eddie.

An excellent point, but the disillusionment with the AFL is real and growing, those in charge had better start paying attention.

I actually blame us, the supporters, for being too emotionally invested with our clubs that we cant let go. The AFL is driven by money, has now for the last decade and a bit. If fans voted with their wallets and didn't watch it on tv and spend 1000s of $ on memberships and merchandise then this wouldn't happen.

Our darkest and bleakest time as a Club was stabilised by Barrassi. He almost single handedly carried out CPR whilst we were widely regarded as a hospice case by all and sundry with a sign round our neck stating, "Do not resuscitate."

We could start with the fixture. If it was a level playing field we would play everyone twice and then begin again. Realise we can't play all in one season, so arrange the draw to roll over seasons with the guiding principle being everyone gets to play one another an equal amount of times with the same interval of time between playing. It would mean that no Clubs would be able to monopolise key dates which would be problematical for a few but fairer to all.
Don't give Clubs the chance to give away their home ground advantage by playing Collingwood et al at The Gee, or Upper Nummbuccta, and either taking the massive gate takings or paying peanuts to stage the game. This is so disrespectful of members and supporters. It's like State Governments and gambling revenue - eventually it becomes so much a part of life support that the stench of corruption is sold as perfume and becomes another revenue stream. We are blinded by our Club's need for dollars and we fail our own ethics due to our love for our team. Yet this may well be our greatest disservice. Sport cannot and must never be totally subordinate to LSD ( $).

The AFL is inept at growing the game....at the grassroots.......the only way to win hearts and minds of anyone, but particularly the non-AFL punters, in non AFL states, is a long term generational investment - like what the academy's provide - where young kids and their families are given access to AFL coaches & players, to provide not only a path way for these kids to play the game - at any level - but also generate the emotional investment from their families into Australian Rules - which is without doubt, one of the most exciting football codes in the world for a player and a spectator, due to its 360 degree nature and raw physicality.

AFL administration wants to fast track support in Greater Western Sydney - incorrectly they think a premiership will deliver that. No doubt, once GWS wins one (and I hope its ASAP) stakeholders back in Melb will push AFL admin to focus back on their own patch. GWS without excellent management will wither like Israel Foleau playing AFL.

Meanwhile the Swans have to remain relevant, i.e. playing and winning finals - we have tasted oblivion before and know that sickening taste -

The Swans have to be better planners than every other club, on and off field - while out maneuvering the whims of AFL HQ's and inevitable backwash from a GWS premiership. Bunker down and fight the fight supporters.

Brilliant. We have a wonderful game and terrible code administration. Like the British army in WWI - Lions led by donkeys

Club memberships at record levels, AFL revenues at record levels, biggest Grand Final viewership in a decade, many other viewing records broken including record for the first week of finals.

If people are disillusioned they need to come up with a better way of showing it, pronto.

Soccer (really football) is the most vulnerable code despites its older generation strength in the west of Sydney. The financial charges that are placed on parents of kids playing in soccer at junior level are outrageous. Much of these charges are siphoned off into open age level competitions. If the AFL was genuine in its commitment of growing the game rather than an incubator club it would pour money and resources into under age AFL development. So many of the battlers out west would love to have the expenses paid for their kids participation and allow their kids to play on an economic level playing field.

You can have all these records because the Grand Final in particular, and most of the finals for that matter, are evidence of the corporatisation of footy. As a money making spectacle of entertainment it is a winner. Yet, the finals are not for the supporters or members of the two teams playing. It's about the code, the sponsors, and those who can pay "to be there" even though it may well be their first AFL game watched. eg Andre Agassi for heavens sake. There are two ideologies at play here. Only one is sustainable - the grass roots love of the game because this is the passion and the heartbeat of the game. The corporates have no love for the game per se and are seat cloggers because of the relationship that exists between big business/sponsors and the AFL. It is an interesting dynamic - but the AFL needs to be aware that soccer in particular is developing passionate supporter bases and how soccer marries these two conflicting ideologies of the corporate sponsor and the passionate member supporter will determine whether soccer overtakes NRL to rival the AFL as the major footy code in Australia.

Evil emperor and his sycophants. Will depend on what sanctions Whitfield, Lambert and Allen face. Allen can hardly be seen in a good light if he argued strongly that there would be no backwash splash on him from the Whitfield probe. Eddie will stick by his man and ride this out....just like he has throughout the entirety of his reign. He acts like he is bigger than the club and cannot see any inherent conflicts of interest between his roles in the media and his role as President of Collingwood. This is the ethical vaccuum that he live in and has done for decades.

The league is well run overall and yes they are going from strength to strength financially, but at times I find myself wishing they were accountable to a higher power. They have made some bizarre and arbitrary decisions at times, and at the moment, they appear to have absolute authority to run the game however they see fit, without any real risk of being held accountable when they stuff up. That can't be good for the game.

Just a few more to my list

* AFL admits to making a mistake in the massive trade which sent Jaeger O’Meara to Hawthorn - This one is grating, we all know the reason why.
* Hawthorn entertaining umpires inviting them to off season trips, paying for accommodation and telling palyers to be extra matey with them. It might look like nothing but this falls under intergrity issues. But not even mentioned in the vic centric media.
* Allowing a club president to wear a presidents hat and being a major player in the media.

A nice 4corners expose should fix this, like in the ealry 80s when they exposed the corrupt NSWRFL at the time which saw the then boss force to resign and shocked the league at the time.

AFL isn't Australian Rules. They don't own "the game". Just like the VFA / VFL / AFL progression, in many many years from now it may not even be the "AFL" as the games leading league anymore. They need to ensure they move with the times & safeguard their league. The last few years has seen an increase in integrity issues IMO...

The doping saga & associated bs.

The illogical trade ban.

The Goodes inaction.

The increasing noise regarding inept (possibly biased, potentially corrupt) umpiring (e.g #freekickhawthorn)

Conflicts of interest (Eddie, Fitzpatrick etc)

Etc.

These kind of things can increase slowly to the point suddenly ppl aren't supporting the league & potentially whole clubs may be open to "restructure" or action to correct the administration of "the game".
