Kinda agree. Bell + Bastinac though were top 2 for their respective clubs in the running department so I'm not totally surprised. When you factor in the fact that these new recruits are still acclimatizing to the QLD weather it makes it even more of an achievement.
Also the younger blokes have had an extra 2 weeks of club training to blow the cobwebs out.

I thought they could have did the run early morning but I'm no expert.
Don't think it was 38, maybe 28. still hot though
Hit 29.6 in the city today, but the bigger factor was the humidity which made it seem much hotter.
Humid day, but not late 30s.

Oh please. I did a 3km run on that exact same track only a couple of hours earlier and I was fine - it wasn't that hot. If I hadn't been so busy serving Queen and Country, I would have totally whooped those boys a new one!
