Geens manager was just on SEN sounded like he was pleading for the club to keep him. said something along the lines of

"Brisbane have said they want to bolster their small forward stocks so Josh should be in that conversation"

Of course we said small forwards with defensive pressure which isn't Green's Strength.

Sounds like no one wants to pay him what he thinks he's worth. I'm torn a bit of Green - he's a great finisher and one of our more accurate set shots, but he needs to buy in and ditch the ego. Living up to his potential he would almost be worth what he's asking - a contract with serious incentive for performance and meeting KPI's would be the way to go. Given though the conversations about other players in the club the time and their negative influence might be to part ways.

Its interesting about the negative influences.

All reports are that N Robbo and Lester are 2 of the most positive influences around the group be they are both depth players. Where do we stand on players like this 2 who are not best 22 but are great influences?

re signing Ryan was a mistake IMO, a great trier but he is too one paced.

Nick is 3 years younger and has a really good upside if he can realize that he has more time than he thinks he does (watched him very closely at the gabba in a few games this year, he panics when he actually has time) with ball in hand, has good pace, gut runs and has a healthy dose of passion/mongrel.

I think it's fair to say that a fair number of our list have stagnated in the last few years, whether through poor development or lack of work ethic.

We look like we will move on the negative influences around the club and those who don't buy in. For those who are committed I imagine they'll be given every chance to thrive under the new leadership. Ryan Lester will be one of those imo.

Who would we rather have around the young group? Lester who struggles but has a fantastic attitude or a gun player who has a poor attitude?

I also follow Melbourne Storm and they have long had a policy of recruiting a particular type of person and it has worked well for them.

The Swans also had there no idiots policy although then they went and recruited Buddy which contradicts that policy.

What is going on with Gardiner? Not a great sign going into trade week uncontracted.

Only just got a new coach. Who I understood is down at the combine at the moment, and needs to have a serious chat with Rockliff as a priority. All going to be a bit funny this year (when is it not? but this one's especially funny). Give him a moment to say hello yet!

Who knows maybe Gardiner is waiting to hear whether Rocky is staying or going before he makes a decision

would take the no dickheads policy.

Ryan and Nick are both outstanding footy citizens, although you must offer something of value on the field as well which i think Nick does "potentially". i think Ryan has had his time, too slow and inconsistent on the field IMO. it's a moot point anyway he has been re signed and i hope he proves me wrong.

I can't catergorically state that rocky has no influence on whether these boys go. It's management & supporters with the major issue with him. its not the players with the major problem with rocky.

Just to clarify not saying it is the case more throwing it out there.

There are absolutely some younger players (and their families) who aren't happy and feel mistreated under his captaincy and will thrive under a rebooted leadership group.

Are you certain? I've spoken to a few younger guys and those who have been there for a few years now and although not happy with him as captain I wouldn't say they came across as mistreated. I can understand completely if the families felt that way though. But the players themselves really didn't get that vibe. Like I said from my understanding it's really outside the playing group that have the major problems with him. I completely agree he shouldn't be captain though.

In this case I'd say you would be talking about different young players at the club.

If we trade Rocky will you let us know more on what went on then?

I would have thought the club trading out their captain and former All-Australian would be instructive enough?

Just more on what actually happened. We understand that something has been happening just for details

I don't think anything really changes from my perspective once he's traded. Sorry. Others might?

Green is one I wouldn't be totally opposed to keeping if we couldn't find a deal. I think on talent he's more valuable than anything we'll get for him, and under a good regime could be one of those players who comes good. Not sure.
