I'd rather retire Waite. Run with a Daw, Brown, and Wood forward line with Ziebell on the half-forward line. Trade Swallow and give the centre clearances to Cunnington and Dumont. Re-balance our slow midfield and set us up with a forward-line for the next couple of years at least.
Yeah we all want that but we know Brad will back the captain in and doesn't seem to be sold on Maj, if he was convinced you wouldn't re-sign Waite.

This is exactly what I want.

Marty Richardson just said Luke Breust has been told he could be traded as part of the o'meara trade and kingy said he has heard Goldstein is gettable

Anyone on the wrong side of 25 is gettable when a team "rebuilds", "refreshes" or whatever you want to call it. That being said, he would require a ridiculous type of offer for us to even consider it given we would be confident he can be an A grade player for 5+ years.

Listened to that on triple MMM. They said we would get a first rounder in return for Goldstein. Bunch of flogs why the hell would we trade the best ruckman in the comp for 1 first round pick.

If as reported O'Meara is worth 2 first rounders having done sweet FA and with a dodgy knee surely an AA ruckman is worth that at least.

GC were given similar (albeit less) start up concessions and comparing the 2 as they currently sit is chalk and cheese.

SOS has since gone to the Blues and is incorporating elements of his GWS strategy as we speak and I like the way he is going about it.

To win flags you need to be bold. Id much rather go this route than go with the Richmond model of keeping their B22 players and trying to bolster with discards and 3 picks each year.

As for the "old truck teacher" strategy im not sure guys like Boomer, Dal, Petrie + Spud would be happy playing @ Werribee for 10+ games a year in a development type roll and as club greats im not sure that would be the way the fans would want to see them go out either.

that still does not take away the fact we can not do what GWS did, just the GC may have not done it the best way.
