Were we allegedly chasing Mayne before we decided on the newfound youth policy? If so, this might bin the idea of him coming to us now.

You would hope so.

Mayne, imo, doesn't give us anything new or what we need.

He just gives us more of the same.

Mayne could be great for development

My take on Chris Mayne is a positive one if he is being recruited for the following roll. I see him as fitting an on field coaching/mentoring roll mainly at Werribee (similar to what Jared Moore did a few years back) but with the option of playing a handful of senior games should the need arise. He provides excellent work ethic and defensive standards coupled with a different IP to what we currently have and assume he would move into a coaching roll within the next year or two.

Lol if bard does do that, which he will - choosing mature players who are performing. We will be in the exact same position we were in within the next year or two. Disgruntled youth being frustrated with opportunity. Tread carefully bard, tread carefully.

Club should go after Tom Mitchell. He's less injury prone than O'meara, more versatile and will be cheaper.

Club should also go after Stringer. He's bound to be upset about being dropped. Throw a 4 or 5 year contract worth about 700-800k at him. He's only just turned 22 and could be anything.Instead of throwing a pick 15 for Jed Anderson throw up a 1st rounder for Stringer and Mullet.

If we were getting rid of both Petrie and Waite then I could have actually seen the logic in bringing in Cloke to fill the interim between now and when McKay is ready.

Does anyone else find it interesting that when asked to comment regarding Cloke, Beveridge said that a forward line of Boyd, Crameri and Cloke is enticing. Um er what about the Package????

Lucky I don't run the club because that's exactly what id do. I know that would get up their noses for a decade.

Stubborn Bard will play Mayne over Garner
Bollocks.

When Garner was fit he played above anyone. He never played in the 2's when he was match fit. Even in the Rd 1 team this year where we had a full list to choose from. He came straight back in before finals too without a huge prep.

Again. A11. That is utter bollocks.

Why would he leave Freo to take up such a role? It's not like he's been delisted.

Don't you know this is how the anti-Brad posters roll though. If he plays Garner he is "gifting games to his faves" or he is "playing underdone players" if he doesn't play Garner he is "ignoring the youth" "not planning for the future" and amazingly "gifting games to his faves".
The abhorrent and ignorant hate, that is unjustified and just plain stupid bubbles over with the same posters every single week.
Btw the name Garner above could be substituted with half our freaking list. I read earlier that if we had gotten rid of Petrie three years ago than Maj would have gotten an extra 60games development... Yep he would have, and that goes for every damn player in the team. Why bother playing anyone, they are keeping someone else out of the team? Also I seem to recall Drew slotting two pretty important goals at the death against the cheats in a prelim.... But yeah play all the kids all the time. Developing is way more important than winning.

If we still get Mayne, I'd say we must have signed some sort of pre-contract committing us to him. No way would we have done it now.

This is exactly my thoughts on it.

If we get Mayne we committed to him some time ago.

There are parts I agree with and parts I don't.

Can't gift games, but those gifts have been going out to senior players too.

Maj, Wood, they were kicking the f***ing door down and they got a game here and a game there.

Wood came in kicked three got dropped (I get it it was on the eve of finals) but he'd had the form through the year for a bit of a run.

Brad sticks with what worked last week or last month and is very slow to change. Proof of this is irrefutable, we went like shit for half a season, amount of debutante? 2 Clarke and Wagner. We persist in playing Mullett or McKenzie the cat, when we could have given the Hyphen a go.

Then there is other shit like his almost complete distrust of Majak, why the f*** did we play a sore Goldstein against Essendon, his knee was f***ed, I know let's go land of the giants.

Brad is great in the media and provides a marketable face to the club, his persistence with tactics and structures that aren't working week to week or even quarter to quarter is concerning.

Philly what do you believe a pass rate is in 2017?

My thoughts would be uncommit and uncommit immediately. Surely nothing is in writing, he is till contracted until grand final day.
Maybe, however that would completely burn that manager and he manages O'meara.

Which is probably how we got here....
