Freo can want a 2nd rounder for this year all they want but there would little chance we miss out on an academy kid to let them have one.

Thats unders surely?.. Hansen is 28 ish , played 1 game this year. Add R2 from 2017 ..maybe.. but a younger player would have to interest them more. They have been criticised in comparison to GWS bringing in older players...
Swallow hasn't played for near on 2 years.
Can't see us offering much more, Hansen would be a great fit at GC. They have the 2 keys, but a 3rd up intercept marker would be ideal.
Hansen & 2016 2nd rounder for D Swallow.
2016 1st Rounder, 2017 2nd Rounder, Aaron Black to Freo for Neale.
Swallow is contracted, and presuming North make final four, that second round pick is 33-36 + Lachie hansen, whom probably doesn't even qualify as steak knives; he can't get a game and he's not suitable for AFL level anymore. It's nothing really. First round pick is an absolute minimum I believe.Swallow hasn't played for near on 2 years.

You'd end up with more points. Less chance of missing out on him.Freo can want a 2nd rounder for this year all they want but there would little chance we miss out on an academy kid to let them have one.
It's difficult to know as the situation is pretty unique. Out of curiosity, what do you think GWS will get for him?So McCarthy for 2 3rd rounders?

Sorry, you've misunderstood. You would get the compo pick Freo get for Mayne. Probably 3rd rounder linked to finishing position, and our 3rd Rounder. As it stands that would be first and second picks in the third round. I don't know what number that would be but I imagine mid 30s and worth about 500 points each (without the discount). If we need to get rid of McCarthy to ease salary cap pressures as intimated by Yamumluvsbigcox then how could we afford Mayne who would be more expensive?
If GWS have the point to an Academy kid they get him. It doesn't matter what you bid, if they better it he goes to the Giants.Forgive me for being Mr Ignoramus about the rules but is a pick before any FS/academy pick able to trump? Eg. Is a club who has pick one able to outbid for say MacCreadie from GWS, despite them bidding their first pick? Is that what is being implied when this post mention leverage?
So stop making us use our best picks. If GWS have the point to an Academy kid they get him. It doesn't matter what you bid, if they better it he goes to the Giants.
I don't think anyone really knows. It's difficult to know as the situation is pretty unique. Out of curiosity, what do you think GWS will get for him?
Sorry, what I mean was; if 2 Third Rounders is "Dreaming", what do you think GWS will get for him? I'm not trying to be belligerent, I'm genuinely interested on what you think GWS will get for him.I don't think anyone really knows.
You could give us your first, we could take next years fourth...
There are far too many variables and none of us really know.
All I want from a GWS point of view is that we get the best deal possible for the club, and put our interests first.
Whatever that is, and if that happens, I'll be happy with that.
You mean like a 'gentleman's agreement' not to bid? I can see a problem with this already. You need gentlemen. So stop making us use our best picks.
Its easier if you just dont bid. For all off us.
No, wasnt really meaning that. Was taking the piss and failedYou mean like a 'gentleman's agreement' not to bid? I can see a problem with this already. You need gentlemen.

Pass, would give our second but that's it.Late first rounder, West Coasts will do.
Even last year the 3rd round started at 39.
Fair enough. Pick 40 and 41 are 412/429 points = 841 + 20% = 1009.2 = Pick 17
I'd say Pick 17 for McCarthy and Pick in the mid 30s would do it.
I think you've misunderstood. 17 isn't McCarthy - it's the points earned from 2 3rd rounders with discount. The 17 wouldn't be going to Freo, it would be going to GWS.17 (McCarthy) and 35 is nearly 1550 points and you want to give us with the discount included 1000 points back.
No.
Actually, that's what I've proposed. Points equivalent of 1st Rounder for McCarthy and late 2nd. The 'couple of rubbish mid round picks' actually translate into a 1st Rounder if GWS use them on a Academy kid... which they would. If all Freo will offer is a couple of rubbish mid round picks, GWS should just force him to sit out again. Offer something decent or he sits out, simple. Don't expect GWS to bend over with lube for a reaming! Freo's 2017 1st rounder is fair, with GWS giving a selection (maybe this year in the 2nd round back). So McCarthy + late 2nd 2016 for 2017 1st round. Bit unders from GWS but at least it is in the ballpark.
