Actually, that's what I've proposed. Points equivalent of 1st Rounder for McCarthy and late 2nd. The 'couple of rubbish mid round picks' actually translate into a 1st Rounder if GWS use them on a Academy kid... which they would.

Then cough up your 2017 first rounder. GWS won't trade McCarthy for a couple of terrible 3rd tounders. You will get a pick back anyway whether that be a 2nd or a 3rd.

No they won't. They are happy to make him sit on his couch being a mummy's boy for all they care. If they get nothing for him, so be it. It is the principle of players not being allowed to have a sook and get what they want every single time. Pretty simple don't sign long term deals if you are going to want to leave within 12months of doing so! Don't blame GWS, blame Young!

I'm not really into the blame game. IMHO I don't think he'll sit out again. It has never happened before. I'm just raising a hypothetical that's outside of the obvious 'what round's he worth' scenario. I think there are other ways GWS and Freo can get it done where both clubs get something out of it. I've given just one example, but there are others.

Disagree. Tomlison is a KPP and you offered a top 10 pick last year didn't you? Steel's a very good young mid, these guys are much a more sure things than a random late first round pick. Both easily worth late first rounders at worst.

That's the point they proved this year. They won't do it again. He will be traded.

He signed the extension the year before.

It was first reported on April 2nd, with the Kelly extension in 2014.

Whats Freo R1? P1? That just will not happen. Perhaps if they add someone else like Pickett etc ..but otherwize I cant see a kid that has been out for 12 months being traded for r1. GWS will feel pressure to look like they are doing the right thing ...and I feel that given a choice its better to move that 250-350 of cap that he is using.
