Hopper is going to carlton
A third round pick? What are they giving up for him? Would Giants accept Casboult compo pick?
Just a thought - do we really need THAT many proven mids? Three might be overkill in regards to the amount of assets we haveCould we lose Cameron + Lever and gain
Sidebottom + Gibbs + Rockcliff (FA)?
I would consider that a win
A third round pick?
True that did cross my mind. 2 would also be a good result!Just a thought - do we really need THAT many proven mids? Three might be overkill in regards to the amount of assets we have
Two (maybe a classy type and a Rockliff-type) would be a brilliant result. We should still have some top 20 picks spare, tooTrue that did cross my mind. 2 would also be a good result!
Expect charlie cameron to be in brisbane colours next year.
Wishful thinking. We aren't getting two single digit picks for Lever
You were very confident he was staying before.Ive been told its 'family related' whatever that means. Eddie understands but is very upset about it. Loves him like a son.
So your saying a midfielder who has struggled with a tag (and remember you need to be seriously good for a tag to happen), is better than one who has never experienced it in his life?
I don't think Matty is far off dethroning him though mind you, but I want another season at a similar level to this before I make that call.
There is no doubt Matt Crouch has had a far better season. If you take Sloane's first 6 weeks away he has been average.
Crouch is an untaggable midfielder in the same way Scott Thompson was. You ca't tag someone who is on the bottom of the pack.
Yep he will still beat his opponent to the drop and still effectively dish it out. There is no doubt Matt Crouch has had a far better season. If you take Sloane's first 6 weeks away he has been average.

Cameron for Schache thanks.
Hipwood would be incredible, he is going to be elite. I'd happily grab Schache though! No bloody way! Hipwood or nothing.

He isn't, in fact a tag would be quite effective on him.
Similar to how it's effective on Joel Selwood and Sam Mitchell in that having a minder to block his movement and not give him any clean breaks would lower his output dramatically.
Selwood has seldom been able to be tagged out of a game on a consistent basis. Unlike Sloane who is consistently being taken out of the game when a tag is applied.
Sam Mitchell was only able to be tagged when he moved to his HB role. He was never successfully tagged when his was their primary midfielder.
Before you start shooting individual game stats at me where a Selwood or Mitchell have been tagged out of a game. I am talking on a consistent basis. Every mid will have bad games and have the odd where the tag will get the better of them, but the better ones rise above. Sloane has not been able to do this.
Both of them were tagged successfully, but it's a damage limitation tag more so than a take them out of the game tag; you can't stop the first touch but you can take away them kicking the ball. Tagging/shutting down Selwoods offensive game is one of the main ways to beat the cats, shutting down Mitchells game was widely considered one of the ways to stop the Hawks.
Matt Crouch would be suspect to this as well right now.
In contrast to Sloane who gets tagged right out of the game so much so it limits his disposals numbers and effectiveness to almost half of what they were in the first 6 weeks.
I also still say Mitchell/Selwood/JPK etc are never consistently tagged even to the extent you say they are. There will be the odd game but nothing to the level at what is occurring to Sloane.
I'm not saying they are consistently tagged (far from it because most of them had a more star studded midfielder as a teammate), what I'm saying is when they were, it worked in a big way.
