I kind of miss how decisive Vlad was. Even if we were on the wrong end of it at least he made a decision.

The modern trend of decision making by consensus is inefficient and often produces poor outcomes.

I want to remind you that these are direct quotes from Demetriou. He has no credibility whatsoever.

"(What) I'd say about Essendon is that they self reported," AFL CEO Demetriou said. "And that they co-operated fully with the six-month investigation right from the chairman to the staff (and) to the players."

"(All) I can say about that is that it is true that Rob did pick up the phone and did call me (with) an irregularity," he said.

"And from that point onwards there was full co-operation but the things that went on at that football club were different to what happened at the Essendon Football Club

"There were things down at Essendon that involved a couple of individuals that were misleading officials and misleading players and keeping people in the dark.

"Whereas in the Adelaide Football Club case, there were things that were more deliberate in trying to keep things from the AFL than what happened at the Essendon Football Club."

True.

But at least he made decisions and had opinions. Even if they were wrong.

Gill is soft.

I wonder if demetriou would take back these comments, given he didn't manage to cover up the Essendon saga like he had planned...

Gil is incapable of making decisions.

Anyone who thinks it is healthy to have a CEO who doesn't make decisions is equally clueless as Gil.

Geelong looks set to take the next step from preliminary final loss

AFTER a heartbreaking loss to Sydney in last year’s preliminary final and despite some key retirements, Geelong looks threatening to push forward in 2017.

1. Geelong 18 wins
The draw for the Cats rarely looks bad and 2017’s fixture is no exception. Seven games at home, five at the MCG and four at Etihad Stadium should make a top-four berth a near certainty, injuries permitting.

Corey Enright and Jimmy Bartel are the big losses as coach Chris Scott continues to revitalise the playing list but the inclusions of former Carlton defender Zac Tuohy and North Melbourne forward Aaron Black have eased any concerns.

Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood will again be the keys to their success but a big year from Stevie Motlop is a must if the Cats are to challenge for another flag.

A challenging first four rounds could determine their fate.

This board was fully aware of posting media articles until you mods started not policing the policy .......now you want to change what you created ....maybe a bit of patience in that case, given you guys originated the issue

How did you view the polite request above which carried no penalty? Too heavy handed?

Fine DABM ......just that the system wasn't broken until 12 months ago, now you have to re-educate

EDIT: I always abided by the media posting rules ....even when you had to have a link both top and bottom of the article ......but when i saw no-one was caring what was posted .....i simply posted full articles as well

More and more media articles are being hidden behind paywalls and posters started posting them in full almost as a courtesy to their fellow posters. Has become a bit too prevalent so need to police a bit stronger than previously. Exceptionally minor issue, surprised to see you in such a huff across multiple threads about it.

Who said i was in a huff .....that's your interpretation

Under current law you can post as much of a copyrighted work as you see fit for the purposes of critiquing it ;)

Thanks fair use policies
Yes that's my understanding ......but i wouldn't think that would apply to public distribution on a forum ?

We don't have fair use. We have a fair dealing exception for critique, which will take into account whether the reproduction was necessary or not. For example, you couldn't upload an entire movie in conjunction with a forum post saying 'I didn't like this movie' and expect that is OK. Reproducing an entire article to say 'McDermott is an idiot' is probably not covered, unless you're responding to several parts of the article that are required together to make a point.

My observation of this is that Vlad was and always will be remembered as a massive flog. Period.
Rat got off the sinking/stinking ship.

McDermott isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I'm not sure this bodes well for the Cats.

I can't go back to check if I'm right as I can't get behind the paywall and the full article is no longer up here...but...I did a quick count of the wins in a season according to McD and I came up with 194. How many games in a season? 184
