Cooper's yes, WE no. They already sell WE at AO anyway, though I imagine if we signed with Cooper's the SMA would prevent us from selling any non-Lion beer. Plus Cooper's is local, the Japanese own West End now.

It sounds like the main component of that Lions deal is pouring rights at the Gabba - which wouldn't be ours to offer, I wouldn't think.

GOLD Coast will wear its traditional red and gold guernsey - the national colours of China - when it plays Port Adelaide in Shanghai after the Power asked the AFL to rule on dress code for the historic match.

Bwahhh hahhhaa hhhahhhhhaaa!!! :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
What do they mean by 'purchased'? Did Port actually pay GC anything?

And yes, it is very funny.:D

I asked this question on the port board (silly me) all i got was abuse and told i was salty.

I thought i read that the afl were compensating Gold Coast for their lost home game but couldnt find anything.

Poor old Port, they couldn't have picked a worse team to play against for the China game.

China colours and "the" holiday destination vs. black and white and a run down suburb where half the shops are empty lol.

Lulz will be plentiful. I laugh every time I hear that radio ad: 'Get your footy and travel fix in one!'

I guess we'll see if I'm right this season now that we have everyone back on board won't we?

Firstly don't flatter yourself that I'm here everyday - I haven't looked at this board for a couple of weeks like I said.

Remember all that shit you lot gave me about me talking about our defensive tactics? How we were trying to do a press all over the ground and how I used the heat map of possessions to prove it?

Here's s comparison of your defence to ours, courtesy of Champion Data:

Forward 50 defence: Adelaide 3rd, Port 6th

Attacking Midfield defence: Adelaide 7th, Port 5th

Centre defence: Adelaide 8th, Port 2nd

Defensive Midfield defence: Adelaide 3rd, Port 9th

Defensive 50 defence: Adelaide 2nd, Port 1st

"They (Port) actually invested in the press more than any other side...They won matches when their press worked and they lost when it faltered." - AFL Prospectus 2017

The difference being - you had your best 22 on the ground for pretty much the whole season. The same can't be said for us. We had to play three rookies in defence.

Here's another thing - I told you that most of your scores are generated from counter-attack: 19.9% from defensive 50 (5th) and 22.6% from defensive midfield (4th) vs 12.2% from centre bounce (10th), 30.9% from attacking midfield (8th - because everyone presses kick ins) and 14.3% from forward 50 (17th). So 42% of your scoring was generated from defence during open play...but it wasn't counter attack.

Compare that to West Coast, who people mistakenly think you play like - 16.4% from defensive 50 (11th) and 19.0% from defensive midfield (15th) vs 10.8% from centre bounce (14th), 37.4% from attacking midfield (1st) and 16.4% from forward 50 (13th). That's a press.

Oh, and if you want to know what they say about Adelaide, it's that you need one or two more midfielders to step up to be a true contender - since apart from Sloane who is elite and Douglas who is above average, the rest of your mids rate average. Which is why I told you that you needed Gibbs, in spite of his front running ways. At Carlton he was rated above average - in your system he would have been elite.

Thanks for the mansplain.

And then everyone in the room stood up and clapped.

The AFL want Gold Coast to benefit from this more than Port.

I am sure Tony Cochrane has some corporate supported sorted as well to promote his club and the Gold Coast region.

He is a shrewd man.

This isn't satire?

Port honestly wanted the AFL to stop Gold Coast from wearing it's home jumper in there own home match that they had to transfer to China because Port refused to transfer a home match of their own?

I like how Port claim to be so laid back on the issue. They why was it thought of and why did they approach the AFL on trying to stop Gold Coast from wearing it's home colours. Stupid arrogant club is Port.

Funny how Port arrange for a game in China & the majority of the crowd are likely to follow the opposition.

Will be interesting to see who plays in China (if anyone), the following year...

Even funnier is when I pointed out to my PAP mates last year that they were playing in China against a team wearing the national colours, from a city the Chinese know far better than Adelaide and called the "Suns" which is a Chinese symbol for masculinity and life.

And they all mumbled "herp we are Port Adelaide, Kochie, Kern derp".

Exactly. Port 'didn't care' about this minor issue... so why not just let Gold Coast wear their home strip?

Instead send the decision to the AFL so that they can be the bad guy and Port doesn't come off as petty. And they've bombed in both. AFL ruled the other way AND Port comes off as petty.

2 weeks without being here? I'd like to see that.

Heat maps, thats the last on my list to give you shit about, my preference being:

Port supporters weren't bandwagon supporters they just stopped going to AAMI to change management.
Port went easy on us in the Walsh Showdown and you would smack us around this year.
Western Bulldogs weren't that good and would get found out and then they go on to win the flag.
I can't remember the game last year, but you reckoned Port were going to smack your opponent leading to an all mighty run to the Holy Grail but you got spanked.
If every Port player improves their metres gained by 50 metres a game that would be good.

There's more but they just spring to mind.

As for your excuse about injuries being behind your press failing that's another one to add to the list. You were shit from the start of the preseason before you could claim injuries. Some of the kids you brought up were actually ok, it was your senior players that were a let down, you even tried to offload one of them for being slack.

The less optimistic ones on here know our midfield is an issue, it's hardly an original thought on your behalf. As for Gibbs you bagged him when you thought we were going to get him and then claimed we needed him when we didn't, so you're full of shit.
*applause* Much applause.

Imagine Kochies reaction if the Suns thump em.

All that hard work trying to impress the Chinese business world and talk up their club as world leaders in sports science etc. Then a bunch of soft uncaring guys go over there in holiday mode and get reamed by the Suns.

If there is a Footy God, please make it happen. Just for the lolz and the fall out.

Guaranteed that in 2-3 years they'll drop the China stuff with a heap of excited talk about how they're now getting back to their heartland, focused 100% on football, now with no distractions. And it will get lapped up just as enthusiastically as their plans of global domination were.

I hear black is considered the devils colour in China so it gets even better.

Ok I might have made that up.

Its a classic though, the only support Port are going to have is from their own supporters who make the trip.

I wonder what would be worse that loss or their loss to Gold Coast which gave the Gold Coast their first win.

I think Port were really hoping a team other than Gold Coast would take up their "we want to play in China but won't give up a home game" plan
Kochie has already said no one in China gives a toss about Port but they would know plenty about the Gold Coast. Its hilarious and obvious why the Gold Coast put their hand up.

Gold Coast's name appears first, their colours are Chinas and it is a popular destination for the Chineese. Classic.
