Do we really need another inside mid?
Oliver
Viney
Jones
Tyson
Lewis
ANB
Petracca
Brayshaw
...

We did run into this problem. Flexibility is an issue.

I don't get the Balic thing. I really don't. We need outside runners with good skills. This is how GWS smashed us. Teams that can run and spread across the field really trouble us. We need outside runners who can hit targets in the F50. If we promote Maynard and bring in Balic, we are adding two more predominantly inside players. I don't get what Goodwin is doing? As much as I don't like Motlop, I'm really surprised we're not gunning hard for him instead..

For those interested Jake Lever came 11th in the Adelaide B+F held last night in his absence. He polled votes in 17 of the 20 games he played. Matt Crouch was the winner polling votes in every game of the season. Think we should look at him next year. Really make them sook it up.

He's had that wrist injury obviously so he doesn't have much of a resume at the moment but from what i've seen i honestly believe he'll become a starting inside mid for you guys.
Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Jones, Brayshaw etc.

It's interesting that both Lever and Cameron have the same reasons for wanting to leave Adelaide - a combination of a better deal and wanting to be back in their home town with friends and family, yet Lever is banned from the B&F, apparently they wanted him out of the team for finals, and they've been slandering him all over the media. Cameron, on the other hand, get's no grief at all - even though he's still contracted. Sounds like they are making an exception for him - possibly because it's a bad look to resent an indigenous Australian for wanting to go home to family. But it's really unfair to think that the family/go-home-factor is less important to a white guy than an indigenous player. I see the two situations as very similar - except I doubt the Crows would lowball Cameron with a $300k offer like they did Lever. Crows have been quite despicable in their behaviour around Lever. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It really is deplorable. There is a pretty big difference between Lever and Cameron in my opinion. Lever is uncontracted, and not doing anything that he isn't well within his rights to do, while Cameron is attempting to break his contract ... vastly different.

You're right tho, both are wanting to leave for the same reason, but the Crows are driving the narrative that Lever is 100% chasing cash and doing the dirty on the club, while carrying on like they're the first team to ever have a young player walk out the door.

They actually sound a bit like a cult. If you leave a cult, they completely disown and disassociate from you - such is the level of betrayal they feel. I suspect this club is heading downwards if this mentality is building in the club. It's the opposite of professional and it will affect dealings with players and other clubs.

I don't think its any secret Lever is a strong willed character for a 21 year old.

It'll do him well in the long run, but mabe it rubbed his teammates the wrong way?

They copped a fair bit of flak after banning Lever from the B+F last night, so for some reason this morning they have a "reason why" that they will not be going into detail about. Think they would have made that clear to the media last night to avoid the backlash. Lucky SA have a more professional outfit over there in Port Adelaide. Absolutely fantastic the way they have treated Jackson Trengrove decision to move to Bulldogs compared to the no class crows. Do not be surprised if Jake Lever has to go to the draft, and in a way I hope Adelaide get nothing in the end.

The whole club is whining like a baby over him. Maybe they should consult a calendar too see what year it is. It's modern professional sport - player movement is the norm. They are acting like clubs did back in the 80s. Not to mention the double standard with Cameron. So their aware enough to plan for the backlash over criticising an indigenous player, but their emotions are out of control over Lever. They're all over the shop.

Adelaide are treating The same way Dees fans are still treating Scully. Who cares, so long as a fair deal gets done.

The difference is that Melbourne had no say in it while the Adelaide FD are trying to poison negotiations out of spite.

Difference is 1 set is the fans the other is the supposably professional sporting club acting like lever just ****ed all their GFs. The blokes out of contract **** me when my contract runs out at work if i get a higher paying contract closer to home i take it everytime and same goes if the money is worth staying for i will. Its their job but if they can be closer to home earning more money then who gives a flying **** what reason they give for leaving. Just cause a club drafted ya doesnt mean shit.

Crows board is something else. You'd think Lever had fun with the skipper's Mrs in the dunny at a team BBQ.

AFC not handling this well either.
It's amazing. They're shooting themselves in the foot, and cheering all the way

Scully went for money. Lever wants to come back home, not his fault he is worth that much

Also at that stage we were a basket-case of a club in the middle of the worst troughs in sporting history whereas Adelaide since the 1997GF have never bottomed out and has been extremely consistent for 2 decades.

Yeah, AFC have definitely been terribly unprofessional. Be it their skipper burning a bridge with Lever ensuring it's impossible for him to stick around if a deal couldn't be reached to the childish public antics of the club. But their fans are reacting the same way we would (in general) to a young player walking out and I doubt you'd calmly be saying "oh well, good luck to him" if he was our player leaving, especially if we'd had a similar exodus of players that they've had.

Not just money but a once in a lifetime godfather deal. Not Scully's fault he was considered worth that much either.

If only we had a player like that on our list. A quick player who is one of the most effective at delivering the ball into the F50 in the entire AFL.

If only we had someone like that, we'd never let them go. Alas we can only dare to dream.

;)
