A mate of mine close to Lever has told me that Lever has asked Adelaide to be put in the leadership group and to be given more media gigs, as well as a pay rise, otherwise he would look to come back to Victoria.
Seems like a no brainer for Adelaide to provide that so more than likely Lever can be crossed off our target list

Yep def a no brainer, kid is a gun and if we didnt get him would like to see him stay.

Wonder if we will do any deals with GWS this year, have traded with them every year since they came in.
Matthew Flynn ... no reason, he's just the only one who's been there a few years, and no one has ever heard of him ... effectively this years Pat McKenna.

Although, he was the one we bid on, GWS matched for, and then took Mitch King instead ... so it's probably not as out there as I thought when I looked at GWS' list for 1 minute and picked the least recognisable name.

Pardon me but if I go full Saints poster for a sec

With the injuries to Gawn, Smith, Garland, Spencer & Hogan affecting our tall structures at the minute, I wonder whether trialling a slightly out-of-form Jack Watts as an 3rd tall defender has any value. Greater user of the ball, imagine the service to our midifeld with him & Hibberd on opposing flanks.

Anyways - back to the main point at hand. Clearly Garland will be gone at the end of the year, and Smith is as of yet unproven alongside Weid. We will need to pick up some experienced medium/tall FWD/DEF options. 2 minimum IMO.

I know I'll get smashed for some of the names below, but I think all of these players (either off contract/FA) could provide value depending on what we offered for them:

Priorities: May, Lever, S.Reid
Alternatives: Casboult, Goldsack, Schoenmakers, Trengove
Better than nothing: Simon White, Lachie Hansen, Scott Thompson, Eric MacKenzie

Watts was fine against GC and will benefit from the bye. Garland is contracted for 2018 so don't think we will be paying him out and most of those names you suggested are reasonable options except Sam Reid, guy is an injury prone tease.

We kind of did..Pick 2 and 20 for Tyson and 9.

GWS: Kelly + Pick 20

Melbourne: Tyson + Salem

To be honest Kelly alone would be worth more than Tyson, Salem + pick 20 right now.
Hey, we can have all three :rainbow:

Didn't we also get something like 54 (hunt)? Still good trade

Salem, Hunt and Kelly were all class mates at Brighton Grammar, graduated the same year.

The plan was always to get Salem and Hunt to get Kelly to Melbourne to play together. Genius trade.

Didn't foresee offers of 9 million over 9 years though

Just sad seeing Kelly, Martin, Wines could also be in our team right now That's like Geelong-era level midfield.

Every club makes mistakes at the draft table.

I'm pretty content with where our midfield is at right now, wouldn't mind a big fish or at least another outside player over summer but it is still the strongest part of our side by a mile.
